Fateweaver's ability seems to be really cool and it makes units around him incredibly hard to kill (including himself). Have any of you guys used him or don't think he's worth it? I am thinking of adding him to my army - put it near other DPs or flamers for added durability. Too bad he doesn't give re-rolls to hit and wound as well.

that wouldnt make him ridiculously overpowered at all...
use Fateweaver, the masque and lots of BoC units and watch the enemy disappear.

I was half joking on the last comment. But do people see a decent use for him or there has to be a way to play him to get the most out of his ability? Maybe a 6inch "zone" of fast moving units that follows the fateweaver to take advantage of the ability?

This is all pure theory as my Daemon army is only partially together at the moment but he seems really good. Even just deepstriking him in between a couple of large units of Horrors seems like it would be pretty good. As I recall back from my Seer Council using days twin linked 4+ invulnerable save is some good.
I could also see using him in conjunction with some of the softer Slaanesh assault troops to make sure that enough of them lived to get into close combat.
Or deep strike him into the middle of some Demon Princes with the Mark of Tzeentch for a near unkillable mess of monstrous creatures.
The only thing keeping me from using this guy at the moment is that I'm not sure how to go about converting him as I'm pretty sure there is no model for him.

Yeah those are good strategies - the horrors idea is not bad either since they got good shooting. Perhaps make 2 tzeentch DP as "meatshield" for him in the front and have horrors or slow moving troops on the side so they wont get obliterated before getting into hth.
One thing I never liked about warhammer is the painting and converting... i just dont have the time to do all that but I love the playing part of the hobby.

My issue with his reroll power is the 6" range. That could pose problems since he has to deepstrike in, as well as units you want to be making use of the re-roll scattering out of range or onto fateweaver. That short range seems to limit how often you'll get to use it (in theory).

1 psycannon love tap / vindicare shieldbreaker + 1 failed Ld test = *POP* On him scattering all over I suppose the plan would be nice unit of horrors w/ icon drops first turn, Fatey drops down next turn and homers in on them. Idealling MC friends and other gribblies are waiting around the icon for the man to arrive and grant them everlasting life. - Salvage

yeah basically a moving circle 12 inches long. i guess downside is if playing any objectives it will be hard to give out the bonuses since troops will be more scattered. He by himself is a pretty tough cookie as well so if he kills couple of units and saves a few wounds then he made his points back...

Eldar players deal with 6" range reroll powers in their own (otherwise very mobile) forces all the time. Check out Eldar tactics for Fortuning rapid-moving units to give you some Fateweaver insights.
As for psycannon hits, assuming that they're coming from Daemonhunters, you probably have a serious problem already. Vindicare are a moderate threat, but rarely worth their points, and rare in tourney settings. Once powerfists are not so invisible in CC, they will probably be even less common.

i think one of the better combos set up in the book will be the Fateweaver/Masque combo.
The Masque, even with a 3++ save, is incredibly fragile, running her within 6" of Kairos is going to do a lot for her survivability.. and IMO one of the only situations that she would be worth taking (she can NOT join any unit, ever). its alot harder to get wounds past a re-rollable 3+ save that shes nearly always going to get than a reg 3+.
that being said, the 6" range on his power may or may not gimp the army if you are trying to max out your re-rollable saves, i dont think his power should be used like that, rather it should be used to provide that extra survivability to the more fragile units that you want to keep around the whole game.
personally id like to see how FW/Masque + 2 pavane DPs running with 9+flamers and another DP with breath would do.. i imagine it would get pretty gruesome, especially against orks/gaunts.

Use fateweaver and skarbrand - you are rerolling everything but the wounds ;-) I actually like the concept of him with followers of nurgle - rerollable armor saves plus feel no pain.

if you buy a 40k version (new) of the Lord of Change, you get 2 heads, one with the cover on it, afterwards its an easy conversion. If you wanna go REALLY hardcore, you can make a mini shawl/cloak using some glitter and cloth to put over the model, or add some glitter in your paint to give him the "Knows the future"-esque look. Also, painting the heads in neutral but contrasting colors helps flesh out the character a bit. Its one of the easier Chaos Daemons conversions.
This guy is ABSOLUTELY broken in apoc, especially with an allied Chaos player giving you an Alter of chaos (2+ rerolled Invul save) Outside apoc, I wouldn't feild him in <1250 points.
