Hi!

I was having a glance at the new GW website and noted the following:

http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat180004&prodId=prod1060143&rootCatGameStyle=
check the price!

10 pounds for one ork commando with burna. WTF!

Looking at the prices at http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/listProducts.jsp?catId=cat180004 it makes me think that something is wrong. Most of the prices noted on that page are two times higher than what i would pay at my local store.

For instance: I would pay 179 SEK (Swedish crowns) for the ork warbuggy. According to GW:s website i should be paying 299,53 SEK.
This is almost twice the price.

Whats up? what have I missed?

game on

Uh, they broke the website with the recent change. All prices are in their US Dollar amounts. They change the currency symbol to the correct country, but the amount stays the same.

I don't get it. First of all, what does IS stand for and secondly the entire sentance makes absolutely no sense.
Please refactor.

I think he's saying that GW downsized their Internet Sales department and then foolishly expected that department to effectively perform the revamp. I don't know if he's right, but I had no problem making out what he was saying.

I think they should just price everything in Imperial Credits. Then you first have to buy IC's at whatever rediculos exchange rate there is to keep in line with the real prices, but everyone would be paying the same; in IC's that is.

I understood immediately. You need to get down wit' da kidz, Grindah.

I guess I'm gettting old.

But still, how does one "change things with a bunch of noobs"... Do you use the noobs as some sort of tool?

I have faced a lot of noobs but I have never considered using them as tools in my daily life.

Grindah: I think part of Stelek's point is that you don't change thing with a bunch of noobs, at least not IAW the original objectives. Stelek was (I believe) trying to say that they had fired most/all of their Internet Sales department, then attempted to replace said people with "noobs", THEN attempted to make tremendous chages to their site with said noobs as he main implementors. In most tehnical fields, this is what's known as "a fool's errand", "radical departure from reality", and a few other names that go downhill from there. The noobs are, in a sense, "tools" in that they are the implementors of the change. It's a somewhat degrading look at anyone who performs a function for their company, but it IS how a lot of MBA's look at all employees. Said MBA's being the same assmasters who can eliminate a man's job by "making him redundant".

But I'm not bitter.

Fair enough stjohn (saint of dice? saint of paint? saint of killers?). However, I don't think that changes a whole lot in this thread except to affirm that rindah is the same age as the restof us that made the IS mis-call

Oh I know... I certainly didn't mean to have any form of "nyah-nyah" tone to my post either.

Just that IS is what I do for a living - that is all.

Negatory there bud, you wouldn't catch an Ork using fiddly 'umie money!!! They'd be trading scrap in instead. Personally I'd quite happily tool up at my FLGS with a trailer full of mixed metal and exchange said junk for an AOBR box set and a load of new paints!!

YO DAKKA DAKKA!

GW should totally have a program for the recycling of plastic sprue frames. I feel terrible every time I throw them out. There's always aenough plastic to make several good minis, and it wouldn't be too hard to reconstitute, right?

I need to get some pics of the scratchbuilt warbuggy I've got that's made using loads of bits of sprue frame... still, I used as much as i could get away with on one model without it looking crap and it still only used less than a half a boyz sprue. :S

All Noobs are tools, you just have to be heartless enough to use them. It's best if you work at a restaurant that has warp-drive fast turnover, nobody is there long enough for you to see them as a person. Seems GW has learned that lesson, along with every other way to screw up a website. I don't even bother. If I can't get it at my local independent retailer or FRP games, I guess I really don't need it that bad.

I use the sprue for panel bracing in my scratchbuilds. It increases my GW content immensely.
