Anyway, all the new models + the army book, for a price that my currency converter says is $219 US. At that price, they can keep their paltry offering. I will wait two weeks for the army book, and then decide if I want to add figures to my army. Yes, the new sculpts are nifty, but I already have a surfeit of Dark Elves.

And I still think that new hydra is butt-fuggly.

Making a nice link is easy.

Hit the URL button at the top of your page twice.
(url) (/url)
You will now have your opening and closing URL Links. (Here i'm using ( instead of the proper [ to get it to show up for demonstration. )
Inside of the brackets of the first url put and = sign and paste your link in.

Now between the two url tags put the words you want to form the link

Awesome figures.

Does not look much but I suppose the price of them lovely metal character figures soon add up.

The Hydra is much better than the old one. Before someone says "well that does't take much". I didnt mind the old hydra figure. This one is much better.

Overall a good boxed set if you have loads of dark elves and just want the new models. Or if you want to "collect" them. I can see all of the box being useful if you use some of the figs mixed into your units etc.

May get one myself

I remember the old days when you actually got an army in the "army box". This looks like some random crap slapped together. They could have at least thrown a unit of warriors in there to give the player another core choice.

And the new hydra is ok, from what I've seen so far I prefer over the old one (which is NOT too hard ). All the same I prefer more lizardy, lower center of gravity, less heads going UP and more going OUT, etc.

So going off my predictions, I'm 3/4, with two left unexplained. Well, unless you want to count the Hydra one against me, because it's apparently made of a new material called "fearsome." Will it replace plastic as the new hotness for converting? Only time will tell.

Exactly, Malf. You forgot to mention the book, John! So you get 24 models and the army book for $200.

Well the Dark Elves have a lot more plastic than demons. And they didn't do a demon army box because there isn't enough plastic, right? So it makes sense that there will be a dark elf box. I hope.

hmm, only about half of those look like new models. I could be wrong, but if this is a spearhead (new models only) then that's alot of new models..

Is the very front model the new witch elf character?

Look at spearheads as a way for people who already have DE armies to update them quickly by only needing to buy the new models, and not have to start from scratch again.

I think they are a good idea for short term release (say first 6 months after army release) but a big army box is needed too.

I wish we could get some good clear pictures of the new cold ones and characters.

Have any rumors leaked about corsairs yet because the new plastics look cool enough to make an army out of.

Agreed with Gonads- this a great box for those who already have all the older stuff that was decent. While we're usually so quick to jump all over GW for their marketing being very much aimed at making folks who already have stuff buy a bunch of repeats to get at the new material, here they seem to be really aiming for DE players that just want an update. That's pretty cool, actually.

Guess I should hold out for an Army Box, then.

Or is it army box, AND a spearhead.

The new Cold Ones (non-character mounts) do look nice though...

The new Hydra reminds me of the one from Willow. Not a bad thing at all really. I don't like the current one or the reaper one people seem to like, I prefer this one even with the overly large heads.

Have there been army boxes for a recent release? I thought they did away with that practice and replaced it with the less stellar spearheads.

Overall for this lot -- Sexy lizards, but fairly unfortunate faces on the Delves themselves so far (the dudes anyway, the chick is pretty typical elf). Could be the painting I guess?
