BT do seem to be getting stronger, with the ability to Run and the Wound Allocation system preventing Majority Armour Save crap.

How you lose: Redeemers. SMs now get S6, AP 3 flamers mounted on Land Raiders. Would you like one, Black Templar? That is a shame.

Except you can't just let the Neophytes die. New casualty rules will see you apply hits to everyone, then take saves for the power armour guys and the scout armour guys separately.

Of course, they still have to hit you more than 10 times, but that isn't always going to be impossible.

Uhh...you don't want to run BT that way. Templorks are just as ineffective as standard ork horde armies.

Try 5xterminators with AC, land speeders, and troops with lascannons.

Or a bunch of LRC all with troops in them running around all game.

Toss in 3rd edition characters in a 5th edition world and you've got a neat cookie.

I think a healthy mix of everything could be key. 20 man scoring units will be more than any other SM army can throw down albeit they can't hide as well.

I think it will actually be worth something to mix equipment now. I think I'm going to play test 6 Initiates BP&CCW, 2 bolters, power fist, melta gun, 6 Neophytes BP&CCW, 4 Neophytes shotguns. That's 6 different equipments for me to split up wounds.

What do you guys think? Will it be worth anything?

I must admit I don't see the point of wishing to split up wounds on 1-wound models. What am I missing?

You're not missing anything. There's no need to split equipment on 1-wound models if you don't want to. You're not gaining anything from the wound allocation rules.

Slowing the game down intentionally? The way I heard about the rules, it would just take a little math, pointing, and rolling.

I was just thinking about doing that lessen the amount of wounds I let get to the power first or meltagun.
