Occasionaly good old Reaper miniatures will slip some figures into their lineup without showing them off as greens first. That happens to be the case today, when they previewed treasures such as thisL
(nice looking figure, even if it will be 34mm high... unification era proto-marine? Geno warrior?)

and this figure, which looks to be useful for pulp games:

Other winners are the space gnoll/lizard:

and this not-squat (stubbin? really?)

All previewed miniatures found here: http://www.reapermini.com/Miniatures/previews

All in all, I find it refreshing to see a large company like Reaper release figures pretty much just for the heck of it. Now if only they could stick to a uniform style and scale for their figures...

The little fellow has a big flare gun that's stuffed with assault cannon barrels that can be shot at great distances.

I'm really, really liking the Dragon Turtle miniature.

No idea where I'd use it, but I might just get it to paint it up!

Nice stuff!

How on Earth can you call that lame @$$ space lizard a "winner?"

The first guy is decent, but the rest of the models recieve a resounding "meh," which pretty much sums up all of Reaper.

There is an attitude that not having an insanely optimized, one shot, six stage, omnidirectional, inevitable, mousetrap of an assassin list army somehow means that you have foolishly wasted your life building 500 points of pure, 24 karat, hand rolled, fine, cuban fail. That attitude has been shown, under laboratory conditions, to cause cancer of the fun gland.

I was wondering, That guy seems to be an agent of G.U.A.R.D.
isn't that a faction in monsterpocalypse?

I think the space lizard guy wins for me, wouldn't mind painting him for the hell of it. I like Xwire quite a bit too, sculpt has good things going on but generally seems to lack detail. The marine is pretty groovy.

Crosswire doesn't have a lot of clutter, but I guess he'd look nice in a comic-book style paintjob, something suitably garish and clean.

The supply does not get to make the demands.

I'd guess G.U.A.R.D. in this case might be a homage to Marvel Comic's S.H.I.E.L.D.

Working on someting you'll either love or hate. Hopefully to be revealed by November.

I know there are people who don't like the Reaper line but for the life of me I'll never understand it. Werner Klocke is one of the best sculptors in the business and Julie Guthrie's recent work is superlative. The majority of the Reaper Undead are head and shoulders above the rest of the industry's Undead figures. Some of the other stuff I have to agree could be lots better. My major complaint is that the vast majority of their line is 25mm instead of the heroic 28-32mm so they look small alongside GW stuff.

The first figure (Nick Stone, Intergalactic Marine) will be in one of my 40K armies, just don't know which one yet. I love the Dragon Turtle but have no idea what I'd use it for in 40K.

Yes, there are female marines and my Sunhawks will explain it to you.

Not all of the Emperor's Children turned coat. We WILL redeem our honor.

Most of the stuff they have made in the last few years has been more towards the heroic scale. GW has its own scale but most of Reaper is much more "in scale" over the last few years with GW thats for sure.

Cry Havoc and let slip the dogs of war!

Guinness: for those who are men of the cloth and football fans, but not necessarily in that order.

I think the lesson here is the best way to enjoy GW's games is to not use any of their rules.--Crimson Devil

Anyone know when the skirmish game comes out?

I like the WW2 scifi stuff, but really kicking for the skirmish stuff.

At Games Workshop, we believe that how you behave does matter. We believe this so strongly that we have written it down in the Games Workshop Book. There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Lawyers, Guns and Money.
