Well I have a bit of money to spend on models and had a question

Kinda Stupid do yall think

Bane blade is worth it ?

If not was going to get 3 Russes

or IG Battle Box.

I have tons of IG just need Tanks and such.

Wouldnt mind more men though.

I play drop so Tanks arent my thing.

But the Rumors are tempting me to get tanks.

What do yall think.

So sorry for a stupid Question like that.

Seeing as baneblades are only an option in apoc (unless your opponent consents to you using it, which will just mean the game is very broken) I'd go for the russes. Every guard army should have russes. They rock.

Opinions are like arseholes. Everyone's got one and they all stink.

I agree. Baneblade is no use for regular games of 40K.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

Well, if you don't have any russes, get the 3 tanks. If you already have 3 Heavy Tanks, then I'd consider the Baneblade. IG are a ton of fun in apocolypse, and the Baneblade is a great tank.

Always wondered about expensive (cost wise) or useful models. Kid in my LGS has 2 Baneblades, yet not enough minis to field 1K points in a regular game. Something to be said about more money than brains I guess.

Who cares whether you can use it or not - Baneblades are cool. I have 5.

Cool, but hideously lumpen and unlovely.

A Scorpion, though, 'tis a thing of beauty.

reminded of my last apoc game. Player with a shadowsword was so threatened by my wraithlord snaking up on him through terrain (and after missing with every single other weapon he could hurt it with) Zot!-ed it with the Turbo-laser.

Shame his beloved 'sword was killed next turn by a squad of swooping hawks with haywire grenades.

Ok, yes, the Scorp is a dead-sexy tank. Friend of mine has one of those. Very dangerous.

I love the old basilisic, nothing is funner than 9 of these in apocalipse raining absolute hell on the battlefield, being an eldar and ork player tho i have grow to hate these tanks witha passion, but there is a little imperial citizen somewhere in me that still loves them

Scorpions only look good when covered by a vortex grenade.

A Baneblade is beautiful to those with eyes to see, and the sound of her guns is all the symphony I need.

3000 pts of IG and no Russes?

That's not a guard army! Go for the Russes! They do an army good.

The new Cobra is pure awsome for the way the D-Cannon is blended into the chassis of the tank. Of course, the range is a weee bit anemic, but the model itself makes up for it.

What are they?
Planet Russki VXVII traditionalists? Many commissars?

Mein gott, man, get some tanks (just not hideously ugly baneblades. For a 'rare' tank, they've become increasingly less-so).

Yes, I am an eldar player. In my 9000pts I only have 6 tanks, and one is a scorpion (but I have a titan as well).

What size armies do you play with?
If you routinely play 3k games, 3 russes will attract a lot of tank killing fire power and will not last long - you might as well get a baneblade.

If you play smaller lists, get the russes - if only for variation from your standard list designs.

As a guard player, I put my money into masses of heavy weapons, and the new Valkries when they come out.

The tanks are ok, but everyone has tanks. Now should be the serious question of looking over an an opponent and asking yourself-"What do I do about all of those tanks?"

Best answer I've ever come up with is massed missile launchers, demo charges, and occasionally another tank. The "Other tank" in question I use is a Lemun Russ with the battle cannon, las cannon combination covering the rear battle area. You have a pretty fixed use for tanks in the game, and what it comes down to is whose tanks die first to get the use out of them.
In at least half of the games Ive played, tanks are bullet magnets, and are dead by turn 2.
In using the Lemun russes, you can have an advantage if you place them in some good firing positions, put a couple of squads in front for the cover, reactions to drops, or flankings on your tanks, and then the tanks is in a good position to cover your heavy weapons squads, which are the money makers.
If the tanks move, they only get about half of the effectiveness, but if they are in good cover, they have firing positions across the board, have more bang for the buck, and you can pretty much preplan your fire onto the fire fans of the table kill zone, and cover those peskey tabel sides with heavy weapons squads and some infantry, moved up about halfway to the middle of the table.

After getting about half of the use out of tanks because of their use I weaned off of them and use sentinals a bit more, for the manuver, and the cheap heavy weapon option.

In the conversation of which of the two tanks to get -

The Russ's are the option in my opinion based on the variations, the use, and the cost.
If you want to, get yourself a baneblade if you have the money, but it isn't going to last five minutes.
