2. For the good of humanity they should never ever do a costume competition again.

I'm glad the cute lil' kid won and not another "HURR, GIRL".

Also looking forward to a cult of cthulhu themed DE army.

Dang, some of those club tables look pretty amazing - the pirate one looked way cool and the 2D-ish multi-level 40k looked great. Very reminiscent of the old RT dioramas.

And yeah, the kid's Titan costume was definitely cute - I can just imagine the kid with the Commissar costume being bitter about not winning, though, and knocking over the titan - "I bent my sonic lance!"

And I don't think I've been interested in Dark Elves since I first started playing WHFB back in '96 - but those are some nice models. And I second the motion for the CoC DE army. Wish I could get a better view of the Dark Angels Captain behind the Tau battlesuit pilot.

Man, I wish there was a real Black Library where I could get a Black Library Card and take out Black Library Books without having to buy them. Of course, late fees would be your soul. But it would be worth it. - InquisitorMack

There is one thing that chick in the costuming contest has that most of the ones at the beach will not have. An apparent appreciation for our geek hobby.

And I imagine a very geeky, and persuasive, boyfriend.

That's the most un-geeklike-looking girl I have ever seen doing such geeky stuff. I think that is a good sign.

Also, the Pleague Ogryn looks awesome.

That chick was vaguely associated with the Warhammer Online stuff going down, spotted her back there behind the scenes a bunch of times. Admittedly she may have had a manthing involved in it or just like video games more than tiny toy soldiers (and being a hot chick, be able to skip the lines and infiltrate the people running things :S), but I still wondered myself.

In the end the costume contest came down to 3 chicks vs 1 kid. There is only one thing that can beat a chick showing skin at Games Day, and the little dude pulled it off.

EDIT -- Still looking forward to Golden Demon coverage, considering I skipped waiting in line to see it in person

Tournament Results are posted: Link

Tournaments were won, in general, by South NJ/Philly players.

Best General in 40k went to Dakka Poster NotThisTime, who is a hell of a good Nid player.

I missed getting my name called by one point in WHFB. Though it ended up going to one of the guys I game with every week who definitely deserved it more than me.

I cant believe they gave that kid best costume for somthing made out of construction paper.

However the slayer sword winning model was just unbelievable.

Yeah, the first thing that came to mind when I saw how incredibly well painted it was, was " No Friggin way"

I am a little underwhelmed with many of the winners this year. It is always hard to tell in the photos, so I may be way off base with this. The Slayersword one is really well done, not my style, but really well done. Some of the others seem very basic to me. The furioso dread for example. Its a decent, and clean paint-job, but compared to some of the Chicago GD entries, it doesn't hold up. Actually all three of the 40k vehicle entrants seem a little weak.

How are the Orks at Black Reach supposed to beat a Space Marine commander who's twice the size of a dreadnought?!
