Subject: if anyone needed to be sold on foundation inks.

Hey fellow members of Dakka, i'm a longtime lurker and short time poster. I recently bought a few of the new foundation washes and they're exceptional. i'm a decent painter if i do say so myself, and painting ork skin (a four step process for me, of a base coat of dark angels, dry brush of goblin, lighter dry brush of snot green, followed by highlighting of 50/50 snot/bleached bone) has just become a two step process of gretchin green, followed by a layer of the new thraka green wash.
As you can see my orks are a little light in color. but with consecutive layers of wash you get darker orks.

These would look nice, if it wasn't for the rampant mold lines.
You really should clean those off of the models before painting. They can make even a Golden Demon winning paintjob look like junk.

This isn't selling me on the new washes. I still have the impression that they are just inks with some matt medium in them.
I have a hard time buying that, since it feels like I'm paying just as much for less pigment.

Not certain if that was in response to me or not but, in case it was...
Take a look at the first posted mini, the one holding what looks like a kit-bashed missile launcher.
First, look at the missile launcher, along the inside near the top right along the horizontal center of the missile. There's a mold line that goes all the way down the length of the missile. Now, take a look at the 5th image down, the one with a spear thrusting downwards. Along the top center of his gun, running lengthwise, you'll see another mold line. They're also easily visible running lengthwise on the wrists.
If you look along the lines where typical mold lines are found, you'll see them all over.
Additionally, look at the shoulder of every arm. There's a little nub at the top. This is what's left when you simply twist the arms off of the sprue or clip/cut them off and don't clean them. I could be incorrect but, judging by the jagged nature of the nub, I'm going to guess that they're twisted off of the sprue.

this is just grognardism at its best. Pay for "less pigment."
I suppose that a table isn't a big deal either, its just a tree, cut down and cunningly shaped.
For $20 you get every color of wash, which will have the same composition and color balance whenever you buy a new one. It's convenient, they match the GW color range, and people who have used them are really happy. They work, and they make something that used to be hard a lot easier. Try the black if nothing else.

hmm i think matt washes are quite worth the money for the less pigment... saves me mixing chaos black or w/e with water every time i want a matt shading effect : <
