The Blue Valkyrie Mercenaries & Plague Guard of Nurgle [Not to be confused with Death Guard].

First I need to do a quick explanation of my project and my back ground.

I intended to make, yes, two armies in one. Nurgle is good and all for horde troopers and special vehicles... but he just doesn't cut it for something like, say, a sniper squad... or a valkyrie... or elite storm troopers backed by a commissar like leader... I wanted the best of both worlds of Chaos. In short: Blood Pact, but more mercenary like and less 'specific' in devotion... and more fanatical, horde troops.

General list has already been made, with the Blue Valkyrie mercenaries taking the HQ, Elite, Heavy positions... and Death Guard taking most [not all] of the troop positions and fast attack... along with a plague reaper for good measure!

Quick over view of the 'fluff'... very quick, as I am sure you are all eager to see work.

:::Blue Valkyries [I will introduce them visually and indepth later, I have some models done but I won't be showing them off just quite yet!] are elite renegade mercenaries, their troops composed of various chaos and twisted versions of Imperium religions (Corrupted machine god worship, false emperor worship, etc). They are primarily hired on to handle 'horde' armies who don't have the fineness to handle elite equipment or meta-combat tactical control of battle fields...

Now that you know a little about the Valks. Time to introduce the subject of this thread...

::: Plague Guard.
_____Horribly mutated and degenerate Nurgle worshipers to the extreme degree. We aren't talking about some guys looking at a dead body and saying 'I wanna roll in that filth! For Nurgle!' ... no no no... we are talking on the verge of equivilance to the Death Guard in rottenness. To degrees that Forge World models can not offer, in some cases. Full blessings of nurgle! They have special blessing bio weapons... nearly tyranid like. Inspired by the Plague Reaper Baneblade... however, as I can not make custom weapons for troops and they still be tourney legal. The troop 'puss spewers' are plasma weapons [representing the possibility that the puss-sack on their back might pop like a pimple, and the pure plague juices are so corrosive and dangerous that they do high damage and have the possibility to injure vehicles...]. The mix of IG bodies and zombie bodies will create the necessary design, along with some green stuff...

So without further delay....



---NOTE: I know things need to be cleaned up. I also know there are some Imperium symbols left... I will be leaving those, to mock the Emperor [may he rot in the warp].

^ Plague Bearer... you heard me right. I decided to go with zombie dogs as bearers! I am working on daemons to throw in with my list for Apoc uses only... I am making several zombie dogs as plague bearers, and I bought a huge box of much smaller canine zombie dogs [pre-made] to be nurglings in rules... In short. My zombie army is a true zombie army, even with zombie dogs

I feel there is to little 'zombie' with nurgle, one of my prime goals in this army is to bring more zombies out into existence for Nurgle! [Yes not enough zombies!]

I do have a ton of plague guard to photo, and death guard [not revealing them just quite yet].... not to mention blue valks... or my 10 lemans... or 3 basilisk... or plague reaper... yadda yadda... to much to show, to little time... Thats all I'll be putting up today.

EDIT: Ah hell, Ill throw in some Blue Valk goodness... mind you, ALL PAINTING ON STORM TROOPERS = TO BE STRIPPED... the females in the front HQ = The Cadian Females we all know n love. The commander in center was a commission from a year ago that Doc Thunder did for me... Ill put better images up at another date. NOTE: Guardsmen in center is the Blue Valk color scheme, he was my test model from over a year ago.

[and yes, thats 6 squads of stormies... 2x plasma, 2x melta, 2x nade, 2x flame, 1x melta 1x flame, 1x nade 1x plasma.... fill Elites and Troops...]

This looks like a lot of fun! I will have to make a nurgle army one day...

One thought though. I always enjoy the swelled stomachs and generally larger nurgle figs. And clothes not so well kept. These humans look a little thin. Maybe bigger bellies? And their uniforms are way to neat. Maybe some tatters and bandage?

Yeah, They will be receiving these eventually. With the number of IG men vrs the level of work needed, a balance of nurgly and neatness will eventually have to be made.

For example, the standard Cadian bodies with their las-guns, are held across their bellies... no swollen bellies for them, sadly. I tried, trust me. They will receive nurgle marks and some rot on things, however, to try and balance it out.

I have 45 of these men to do in total. 1 Armored fist squad (2x heavy flamer chimera = puss spewing mutated horror of a vehicle), and 3 squad+hq platoon. I will eventually add to this but 45 is my current goal. Then I have a plague reaper, and 10 leman russ to finish assembly -> painting. Then I have my daemon hordes to do...

So yes, a lot on my list, I will continue till my Plague Guard are nurgly to my satisfaction, but they will not be so totally mutated that they are death guard like... only the special weapons are blessed with all of Nurgle's blessings... the rest are zombies, un-dead/semi-dead type. They will be marked and bloated to some degrees, but no where near as the Puss Spewer. I will be sure they are unmistakably nurgle though

Thank you everyone for your input and comments thus far. I'll be sure to give one heck of an update next... however, I will be in Seattle for 5 weeks starting this saturday, so no major updates will be coming from me asides plans, army lists, and maybe one or two things I might buy from a GW store up there...

I will be sure to throw some more images of my other works up before I go in two days.

Thanks Guys. I'm in Seattle now with NONE of my 40k stuff. I will try to go by a GW store and pick up a squad of cadians with GStuff, or something FW that I can use it's pieces at home... until then, no more updates :( for 5 weeks....unless I pick stuff up, like I said.

Ok, slight update guys.

The Battle Bunker in Seattle is a good sales group...

I now have 33 renegades w/ arms, 5 agitators, 5 more Elite Cadians with Shotguns[10 total now], and a Nurgle CSM Sorcerer...

Should I buy IA5 to run my renegades and Nurgle troopers...or stick to the IG Dex.... is it worth 75?

But either way, I have a great number of excess goodies for conversions now, expect more from me soon as I'm home in 2 weeks.'
