Hey,
anyone still run a full deathguard army? I mean, obviously the HQs and non-actual "death guard" units just get the mark of nurgle with the bonus toughness, but I used to run a full deathguard army under the old codex, but after seeing some of the new forgeworld death guard upgrade kits/new sorcerer, I was thinking I should dust off the pile and get it rollin' again.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

You get some very hard, very flexible infantry who have access to a lot of specials. Typhus is a fun character to mess with, maybe not the most points effecient but still fun. A nurgle prince is pretty good too.
For heavies, I dunno. I go for a land raider to transport my termies and typhus. It's debatable. I haven't lost a game with mine, but then I've only managed to get in 4 games against different opponents.

deathguard is strong, probably one of the best gods to go with if making a pure god specific army. imo the best deathguard armys load up on a lot of plaugmarines, daemon princess, terminators, and maybe just maybe some raptors(i know its heresy). their a bit tricky to win with against savvy opponents, especially armys that have a lot of long range shooty elements. its an awsome armys thought!

Of course, you can field a DG army approximating the rules of the old Codex.
Plague Marines provide a decent core. Mount some of them into Rhinos
as transports have improved in the 5th ed.
Add two winged DPs with the MoN.
The rest depends on personal preference.
Predators or Vindicators can provide cover fire.

No way to mark vehicles/obliterators in the new CSM codex though. But if you are ok with that it will work "ok".

Getting my broom incase there is shenanigans.

Death Guard improves greatly in 5th edition.

With the emphasis on objectives, and not getting killed, they are going to be a very good army.

The two negative things about Death Guard are that they are slow, and can’t really put out a lot of firepower. With the 5th edition scenarios, they will not have to travel far, or do much long range damage. They just need to stay alive, and then get in close in fights (where they excel) for objectives.

I foresee armies of them just driving up to objectives in their rhinos and getting out behind them, and then you have to dig them out which will not be easy.

Thanks everyone for all your recommendations!
Im unfortunately now torn between revamping my old Death Guard, and starting up a World Eaters army (after eyeing the new forgeworld upgrade kits, its hard not to!)
Also, my buddy is offering up his Sisters army, which a pair of exorcists would definetly set it up as quite formidable......so now Im stumped...

Thanks!
