Got the new 5th ed book, but for the life of me cant find the description on this. Say I have a squad of Black templar, 10 marines and 10 scouts. If I take 4 wounds who do I have to remove. What if I only have 7 marines and 8 scouts left? And how do I decide what saves to roll?

In 5th, the hits are assigned per model. So in your example, you could assign them all to the scouts. There is no more 'mixed armor'. Every model assigned a wound takes their own save.

You still operate under 'majority toughness, though'.

You could also use this, for example, to assign the plasma hits to the scouts, and the bolter hits to the marines. As long as each model receives 1 hit before wrapping hits around.

Hope that helps

Oh nice, so I can effectively use my cheaper scouts to screen the marines until combat. Thanks for the reply.

Actually you assign the wounds to models but roll for saves as a group.

All models of a group which is unique for gaming purposes (have the same weapons loadout for example in a mixed Marines Squad) roll vs. wonds assigned to models of that group at the same time.

Example... 5 Marines (3 Tac, 1 Hvy Bolter, 1 Sgt.) take 5 wounds, all from the same weapon type firing on them. Each Marine would be assigned one wound, then one on the Hvy Bolter & one on the Sgt.
All 3 Tac Marine wounds get saves and are rolled for in one group. Remove a number of Marines that equals the number of failed saves.
Now roll the Hvy Bolter & Sgt. saves each separately, removing any casualties as saves are failed.

If you add one more wound to the above scenario, say from an AP2 weapon, that could be placed on one of the Tac Marines as the target player wishes, but all unsaved wounds that result from the Tac Marines saves would be counted against the GROUP of Tac Marines, not the specific models.
