I'm finally getting around to doing a 10 man squad of chosen that are going to be busting tanks behind enemy lines. A lot of my opponents field their tanks in the back with everything else up front for the fight so it's a 4x Melta, 5x Meltabombs, 1x IoCG. Now to the part that this is really about. I was thinking of two different paint schemes.
One scheme would be the Chosen being painted up as if they were Space marines with a little more black than usual. I would prime black, base the torso/head/shoulders enchanted blue, base the arms/legs/packs black. From there I would do the grieves enchanted blue and a few details on the backpack enchanted blue, aswell as the little shoulder pads enchanted blue. Then a wash of Devlan Mud, some hawk turquoise highlights, and details. It would give them a slightly off look from what Space Marines look like. It's as if they infiltrated the enemy lines with a very clever disguise and hiding that 10 foot pole with a huge chaos icon on it behind their backs.
The second scheme follows my army a little better. My normal troops are painted Boltgun/red/black/gold (Super Chaos-y, I know). But my Havocs are painted like iron warriors. I was thinking of painting my Chosen with a Purge scheme. Prime/Base black do the shoulders/elbows/grieves green do a devlan mud wash and details. They would look as close as I need to get them and we usually play on a pretty green table so I guess they would be blending in some to that terrain. But it benefits my army scheme (kind of) more than logic.
