The rule and FAQ say you may add no bonus, +1 or +2 (if you have 2 Autarchs), but can you choose the bonus for that turn after you roll for reserves?

Lets say you decide to start everything in Reserve and then try and come in on turn 2, can you roll first and then strategically decide which bonus to take or do you need to declare bonus before you roll?

How does finding out what your die roll is change if you want the unit of not? If you roll a 2 are you going to be like, NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!! NOT A 2! I don't want that cursed unit! I'm not going to add +2 to that roll. Or if you a roll a six, do you want to add only +1 so you can get a lucky 7?

Seriously it really makes no difference since you obviously have to decide before you roll for the next unit. I decide afterwards since it is simpler to see if I need to think about it or if the dice have already decided for me.

If you think you are too small to have an impact, try sleeping with a mosquito.

Eldar FAQ
"Q. If an army has two Autarchs, does it get +2 to its Reserve rolls?
A. The player may choose each turn whether to add +1, +2 or no bonus to his reserve rolls."

So since you have to decide by turn, it would seem to me that you have to decide before you start rolling and then apply that bonus (or lack there of) to all rolls for that turn.

I am not sure if I understand the value of the choice. If I want a unit to arrive from reserves, I choose to add the Autarch(s) bonus, if I want the unit to stay in reserve, I do not add the bonus. What does adding it after the roll do for you?

A. The player may choose each turn whether to add +1, +2 or no bonus to his reserve rolls.

The FAQ already explains a sequence of events: Reserve roll first then Bonus / No Bonus

You wouldn't know what to add your bonus to, if you didn't have a reserve roll to begin with.

If you have multiple units in reserve, it might be to your advantage that they arrive on the same turn. If you roll for them sequentially, and decide after each roll whether or not to apply the master strategist bonus, it would make it more likely that you could arrange a simultaneous arrival. I guess it doesn't make much difference whether or you decide before or after the individual roll, but it does make a difference if you decide for each unit before making any rolls, or for each unit in turn while rolling.

OK, that makes sense. Thanks
