Hello everybody. This is my first post, but I have been lurking the boards for quite a while.

I was looking for some advice on a competitive tyranid list. I have played a lot with a 1500 point version of this list, and have done very well, even in tournaments. However 5th changes several things, so I wanted to seek the community's advice. Here is what I have so far:

1750 Pts - Tyranids Roster - Hive Fleet Eudaemon

HQ: Hive Tyrant (3#, 211 Pts)
1 Hive Tyrant @ 211 Pts
Toxin Sacs +1 St; Twin-linked Devourer (x2); Psychic Scream; Synapse Creature; The Horror

Heavy Support: Zoanthrope (3#, 185 Pts)
1 Zoanthrope @ 185 Pts
Toxic Miasma; Psychic Scream; Synapse Creature; Warp Field
1 Zoanthrope @ [65] Pts
Toxic Miasma; Psychic Scream; Warp Blast; Warp Field
1 Zoanthrope @ [65] Pts
Toxic Miasma; Psychic Scream; Warp Blast; Warp Field

Heavy Support: Carnifex (2#, 296 Pts)
1 Carnifex @ 148 Pts
Enhanced Senses +1 BS; Barbed Strangler; Venom Cannon
1 Carnifex @ 148 Pts
Enhanced Senses +1 BS; Barbed Strangler; Venom Cannon

Total Roster Cost: 1750

Specifically I was wondering what your opinions are on:

1. Without Number. I know there are disparate views on this, but for a smaller unit like I have it seems not too expensive, and much easier to suicide/recycle the gaunts
2. do I have too many kill points? Or will tournaments be decided on Victory Points anyway?
3. Are the small units of gaunts superfulous? Should I get rid of the 10 regular gaunts and termagaunts for something else?
4. Are raveners overpriced now? They used to be a great unit, and I used to use them together with the flyrant, to support each other. Should I swap them for something else?
5. What is your opinion on psychic scream? Versus non-fearless armies, I found it very good (esp meganobz), and also counts as a psychic defense, if I can get them in range (usually by turn 3, perhaps earlier with running).

Kind regards.

Raveners are cool, but I stlil don't think they are your best choice there... I would look at beefing up your stealers (which all need extended carapace), and getting those gaunt broods to 20+ without without number. A creative player will make that ability a waste of points every game.

Zoanthropes, methinks, could be real cool in 5th.

And crons.
And nidz.
And kroot.
And I play like a d*** with them all.

I don't think that you "need" extrended carapce in 5th. Screening with gaunts, or in cover, they have a 4+ save without paying 4 points per model. I would bump up the Gaunt numbers and cut out the raveners though, as well as perhaps giving the stealers Talons

I'm not sure the VC is worth it anymore, as the low ap, low rate of fire and only glancing makes the VC not really worth it on my opinion. I'd take talons and tusked with a barbed strangler. the only tanks you really have to worry about are monoliths and L raider. monoliths arnt scary because you WILL defeat necons in CC and run them down, so all you have to do is run your gaunts, with the stealers fleeting behind, with the BS firing in support, with the winged tyrant pulling prioity. when the stealers get into combat 2nd turn, the monoliths won't mean a thing.

Land raiders, well, atleast it's 250 points of kill a MC in 2 turns. Your MC's are half that cost or are fast (flyrant) or have extra wounds (tyrand w/guard) so you will be killing them in CC before you know it.

Anything else the stealers can kill. So it would ditch the VC and just run the BS + tusk and talons (maybe a mace tail).

Not enough 殺氣 ( sorry i have to apologize i honestly dunno how to say this in english ... ) "kill aura" xD -Lunahound
