And what a finale. I really have to say, that was one awesome show.

Avatar: the last Airbender is pretty much ( at least imho) the best cartoon ever made. Period. Maybe some of you disagree, and that's fine, most of us live in a free country (you know, except Kyoto ).

I'm happy it ended like this. Three seasons, one better than the other. It's funny, is full of heart, the fight scenes are incredible (without getting ridiculously over the top like some animes I know) and, except some other Cartoons I know, they knew when to stop.

So, for those of you, who did't get around to watch it yet, please do. It may seem a little to "kiddy" at first, but trust me, the show is amazing. Do yourself a favor and give it a try.

Give it a shot. It's really great.

I just wished they would make a decent fighting game out of the show. The potential is there.

I know someone else who watches it. She's a baker who draws pictures. She usually knows about these things, she's not just some anime fanboi-ladie.

I thought you meant the REAL Avatar.

The $300 million dollar, Jim Cameron sci-fi epic due for release on 18 December 2009 in 3D. But you are talking about the cartoon being adapted by M. Night Shmyalan of "Lady in the Water" and "The Happening" (in)fame.

My bad.

Oh yeah, the movie...I don't really care about a real life Airbender movie until I see some casting.

I like the series. Its obviosly meant to be geared towards children, but it is mature enough for someone as picky as myself to enjoy it.

I used to buy the single DVD's but after buying book one collection, I decided to wait to even watch any until each book is released.

So have they completed all of the books yet?

Are they all on DVD yet?

I don't know about the DVDs, but the show's over. 3 Books, with a 1 1/2 hour finale.

Wait ... really?

On the cartoon, never watched too much of it myself, though it seemed decent. All I really know is that I like the kid's arrow tattoos

The Avatar's been finished since The Guardian dropped him in Pagan.
At least he wished he was, given the fiasco that was Ultima 9...
I have some curiosity regarding this show, maybe I'll download it. Seemed fairly good for an american-drawn "anime". But one must not forget the greatness that was "The Gargoyles" when we praise Western animated series.

It's drawn by Koreans.

I watched it, bought all the DVD collections, I love it. Avatar is one of my favorite, if not my favorite show. It just has everything. It's definitely something I would watch with my kids and thoroughly enjoy. The ending was incredible and it has a lot of moral ideals in it that I am in line with personally without being too preachy. I teared up a little when it was over. I have nothing to watch now...

i'm actually looking forward to the movie, if they just could find another director, i really lost my faith in MNS

Excuse my ignorance then, I thought it was totally produced in America. Still, I'm curious about it, as a break from the usual anime. Especially since Soul Eater is out one episode per week... There haven't been many recent series that have caught my attention, save perhaps from Spice and Wolf.

I just saw it and it was excellent. I've been the lone avatar fan in my group of friends for ages, the rest were put off because it's a kids show and haven't watched it. I recently got one of them to watch it and he's hooked too.
It's really very good.
I just wish there had been one extra episode to devote to tying up the plot- it had so much going on, and I'd have liked to have seen some stuff get a little bit more time.
Still brilliant though.

I wachted the whole series again last year and I have to say, it used to be better. It's still a cool show, but it does have some major shortcomings. It starts out great (the first time travel episode where Xanatos made himself rich was awesome) but a lot of the Avalon journey epidoes were pretty lame and the 3rd season wasn't nearly a s good as it could've been, if they would've folled the "masterplan".

Gargoyles didn't stand the test of time nearly as good as Batman TAS did and now I'm happy to say that Avatar really is the best animated show I know. BTW. a cartonn I also enjoyed very much was the new Ninja Turtles series. At least the first 4 seasons.

Haven't watched the Turtles, I was a big fan of it when I was younger. Has anyone seen the Batman: Gotham Knight animated movie/short series?

Ill agree on the point of it being better in the old days.
BUT ill still bow to it. I loved that show. Awesome stuff.

Yeah, I did. It's okay, nothing spectacular though. The animated series is much better and Gotham Knight doesn't contribute much to the overall Nolan-Universe.

And the new Turtles series is much better than the old one, since it's based more on the classis comics.

I'm going to give that title to Justice League Unlimited. Quite possibly one of the best TV series of the 90's. Smart, fun, witty, action-packed, and great for all ages, from my 4 year old son to my "grew up with comics" self. When the second episode is an adaptation of a very smart Alan Moore Superman story, and it gets better, you know you are on to something.

Agreed on Gargoyles being awesome back in the day, less so now. Same I feel with Batman TAS, the art really leaves me cold. Batman Beyond though, now there's quality, was happy to see Return of the Joker is on CN I think Saturday. Too bad I'll be playing APOC all day

As far as cartoons go I really only watch Ben 10 right now, Alien Force and original flavor. I'm divided on which I like better - I like Kevin being part of the team and the interpersonal stuff between the teenaged characters, but I like the monsters and the animation from the first one better. All the same Ben 10 may be the only show I watch with any regularity any more :S

I looked into that one a few times. Altough I didn't know there were two shows already. Last week I saw an episode with Ben all grown up and with a kid and I just assumed it was a new season or a special episode.

I hear a lot good things about JLA animated, but there are so many characters in it, I'm not remotly interested in. And Aquaman, which is even worse.
