This is a slight variation of Steleks Drop Trooper Army from a few weeks ago.

I had the chance to test it now in 5 games,(using proxies) and have tried with hellhounds, and sentinels and have had much more luck with the sentinels mainly due to the flanking movement and the fact that people are terrified way out of proportion of hellhounds in 5th. Still in only 5 games with limited opponents I could be making a judgement based on isufficient data.

Also could kill the flamers from the LT, and give bolter sponsons to the russes. I know it makes them still effective after the big gun is blown off, but they seem to be crazy surviveable in 5th so far and I dont find that loosing them hurts me much.

9 heavy flamer templates can do a lot of damage to hoard armies, and the nid player I faced found them to be simply devastating.

I plan to theme this army as a Slaneesh Traitor Legion Modeling a Female Slaneesh Comissar in Place of Sheaefer and a deamonette with bp&ccw for Kage.
The Jr officer will have a collar and be on a leash to a trench coat wearing deamonette. I can put all kinds of chaos gribblies on the vehicles and paint them up in slaneeshi colors so it should be fun to paint and to play.

your list looks pretty d*mn devastating to me. It seems like any really powerful 1750 guard list includes the last chancers, as they can really max out the special weapons that make guard a force to be reckoned with.

I don't really see any real weaknesses with this list. the only problem I could see is if you get bad scatters for the drop in are only come in a few squads at a time do the last chancers come in all together, or as separate squads?.

The necron flying circus might pose some problems for you, especially if the opponent gets good WBB rolls.

The way it reads since they are deployed as separate sub units then they come in separately. With 12 units in reserve and 2 improved comms re rolls I have not had much trouble dropping heavy firepower quickly.

Necrons are an interesting matchup, and im hoping to get some games in. Sadly I have no local necron players and my army is still unassembled and only partially purchased so I have to stay local to use my friends guard for proxies.

footslogging horde sisters is another army that worries me, as they are the only horde army that can eat my heavy flamers, but they should have real trouble with the russ squadron so hopefully I will be ok against them.

Your flamers are still wounding on either 3's or 2's for sisters, and given that you place all templates, count all hits, and then roll wounds/armor, you're going to rack up a ton of hits. Even power armor can't stop that much wound spam.

They "count as" 2 troops choices, but are indeed deployed individually.

However in the mission where you deploy only 1 HQ and 2 Troops, you can say the LC can fill both those slots.

It's just like one big IG platoon really, but if you DS them under 5E that is when the 'individual' part comes into play.

I do know what you mean about hellhounds, they really are terrifying in 5E.

Huh, so the HF Sentinel Squads work that much better for you than the Hellhounds? Even in squadrons?

Man, I wish there was a real Black Library where I could get a Black Library Card and take out Black Library Books without having to buy them. Of course, late fees would be your soul. But it would be worth it. - InquisitorMack

Wouldn't it be better to attach some Sentinels to the CHQ, just to give you extra reach?

I hate gimmick lists that rely on special characters, so I've got nothing to say about this list.

How do you do against heavily mechanized lists? It looks like AV 12+ will give you some issues, especially Monolith or Land Raider spam. You'd probably only get 2-3 shots off with meltas within 6" after allowing for scatter and opponents' shooting.

You can usually expend 4 melta units to kill 4 Land Raiders.

Monoliths you ignore, and phase the Necrons out.

All you need to do is break a unit then escort it off the board with a properly placed deep strike unit.

No, it isn't easy but wounding every Necron on 2+ with the majority of your firepower helps.

The small units of the typical necron army also helps.

A scarab swarm army would have a very good chance against this army under 5E.

I haven’t had a chance to face a full LR spam army yet with this list, which is another thing I think I will see a lot of in B’More especially after the new Marine ‘Dex hits the streets. I had no trouble at all with 2 Raiders and 3 Rhinos.

The Sentinels worked really well for me as suicide units, even with the new squadron rules as they can come in exactly where I need them, and lay waste to whatever is near the board edge. They then draw tons of med S high volume fire that would otherwise be hammering my dropped units.

The enemy still can not afford to ignore the big tanks so most of the big shots go there even after the little guys show up. I don’t expect the sentinels to survive, just to clear out the flanks of hoard units and draw fire away from my real weapon – the drop troops.

The two times I played with the hellhounds, I lost them all by turn 2 and missed with them more than I hit ( I roll below average usually so I had some shots wiff completely ). They did do some nasty damage even with all of that, and actually drew fire from my Russes, but the sentinels (so far) have done much more damage on average.

I will have to see how the metagame evolves in the next three months. I will paint up both units ( hellhounds and sentinel squadrons ) and go with whatever works best against the most common armies that are expected to show up.
