Don't forget to lay credit where credit's due.
=======================
Mad Dok Grotsnik.
Boss Snikrot and his Kommandos.
Weakness of both?
Mad Dok Grotsnik runs you around like an idiot.
Boss Snikrot and his Kommandos can't kill tanks and have issues with power armor.
I give you...Stupid Ork Trick of much amusement.
=======================
Snikrots rules: Ambush. Note that this is NOT infiltrate. There is no * next to it. Have a nice day with the rule arguments.
Mad Doks rules: He may join a unit and may not leave it.
Join Mad Dok to Snikrots unit before the game using the 5E reserve rule (due to the poorly worded 'retinue' rule and mad doks 'may not leave the unit' rule, you can argue he's a upgrade character...but I won't. YOU can.)
Now you have a Kommando unit that:
Can kill tanks (Mad Dok is S9 on the charge), IC's, and just about anything else.
Comes on anywhere.
Has Feel No Pain.
Is Fearless.
You can't insta kill him either, he's T5.
All for only 335 points for a min Kommando unit and him, quite a bargain.
Oh you shot me? Neat. Lemme take my 4+ cover and my 4+ FNP.
==========================
Feel free to really have fun and run Old Zogwort in the unit (he too, is T5) so you can smack down a IC with his squig ability (and prevent yourself from rolling on the teleport table).
Then once in close combat, when Orks are usually...weaker than normal, why...you use Zogworts psychic powers in the enemy assault phase and with his re-roll and being in CC...
Yep, he usually gets D6+2 power weapon attacks that wound on 2+. Gee, and he gets FNP too.
Not gonna lose combat much, are ya?
He's 145 points, in case ya forgot.
480 Points (or more, I know I'd spend more on more Kommandos...bring ya to 540 total).
Now how many armies can you own with that combo?
====================================

Can't give you credit for it. Seen it, but refuse to actually try and pull it off. I simply won't put my opponent through this particular headache as I really don't think this is some type of diamond in the rough special rule. Besides, I get enough complaints about Snikrot's special ability as it is.

No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby. |

Well it's been sitting on my notebook for a year, since we got the Ork Codex + the 5E rules to test.
I just decided to put it out where everyone can see it. Ok someone asked what's the most abusive Ork thing, apparently in the UK putting your SAG with 19 grots makes people there ANGREEEEEEEEEEE! For Brits. lol
Please note I am quite oblivious to the rest of the internets, dakka is the only place I curs...I mean, inhabit.

By the way while I was enjoying some quiet time with Phil Kelly during my ummm "lull" during game 1 ( lol I'm so mean) I told him about it and he looked at me like I had the plague and I'd just given it to him.
At least someone else asked him about the whole running with a Jetbike thing...so my voodoo doll only got poked once.

Us brits have a sense of fair play and propriety that you colonial savages can only dream of, and this sense of what 'just isn't cricket' would certainly not allow us to stoop to such a low and despicable act. Phil Kelly, being the proper and gentile Englishman he is was perfectly correct in his derisory attitude to your wicked ways. I think it's about time we took that independance back off you, you lot are causing an awful lot of bother. I'm off to make some tea and crumpets.

Greebynog's proper response had me laughing for about a minute straight. That said, wow, what a sick combo. It stretches the rules just enough that I wouldn't think to try it for more than a game... but, much like a Space Marine Epistolary with 100 points of Wargear on a Bike, I can see it being really fun for a single game.

Couldn't a S10 shot/hit instant kill em?

Yep, he usually gets D6+2 power weapon attacks that wound on 2+. Gee, and he gets FNP too.
Wasn't it ruled that you could either use him with D6+2 power attacks OR the 2+ poison not both?
I mean he'd still be freakin amazing not doubting that.
I keep hearing this Mek needs to be in a squad with a SAG where do people keep getting this. I've read and read but see nothing about it in Codex or 5th ed so I feel like I've missed an FAQ or something. As far as I can tell the Mek is an independent character and that doesn't change when he takes the SAG so yes, I'm confused.
Still great idea running the character HQ's together to have them compliment each other I'm surprised this wasn't thought of before seems like a simple idea.

After serving in a 'big gunz' regiment Grots often loose their hearing and have to resort to a rudimentary system of sign language. This is rarely successful as there are only so many signs a Grot can carry.

Of course S10 will instant kill him.
How many S10 guys do you see running around?
There is nothing in the FAQ that mentions Zogwort cannot hit you with poisoned attacks that wound on 2+. Demon Princes of Nurgle can do it, why not him.
The reason you want a SAG or KFF mek with a squad is 5E allows you to shoot any IC not with a unit. i.e. If he is by himself, you lascannon his arse and he dies.

Well playing orks I see allot (nobs w/ PK on the charge warbosses ect.) Or more I've been playing against nids ( Mc's) Your right tho in majority you don't run into too many s10 hits. Just more than I'd like =P

It was discussed here -> http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/205889.page#216164

Ah ok I figured it was something like that. People were talking like it was law or something not just the logical thing to do.

It's a nice discussion, but without a FAQ, it means nothing.
You can leave the big mek on his own if ya want. Just don't get mad when he eats a missile to the face and goes back in the box. lol

Indeed it is.
Orks I think can afford big point sink units more than most other armies can, due to the cheapness and effectiveness of their other units.
Just like Dark Eldar can blow 400 points on an Incubi retinue.
What else ya gonna spend it on?

OK, someone explain to me how you can make an independent character like, oh, say maybe... Mad Dok, and transmogrify him into a upgrade character? Seems to me that the definition of each, as given on pg 47, the very first page of the section on Characters, is pretty cut and dried, AND mutually exclusive. Ya gots the characters with their own entries, and ya gots the characters without. Oh, NOT like I am attempting to apply logic to GW's rules, that's not always a successful endeavor.
No offense, but when I found this I couldn't resist. Sounds like bs to me. Hope no one gets their wittle feewins hurteded by me posting it, it was meant to be funny, not an attack. I think Stelek would realize what an attack would be, and what is not.

But Stellek, for 500 points you could just take 83 normal orks. I think 83 normal orks would probably have enough attacks to wipe the super commando unit off the table! 10 Commandos and two suped-up characters only have 14 wounds, and they will feel pain when the dice say so.

Dark Eldar can play keep away with most Ork armies all day.
The difference is, you cannot take much more in the DE army...if you've already maxed out elites troops and heavies, what else are you going to do with the points?

Could someone explain to this poor ignorant american savage how it's "abusive" to put a SAG mek with a unit of grots?

I'm sure the Brits would be okay with it so long as, whilst you placed the SAGmek on the table, you extended your pinky in the proper fashion.
