I go here, I get logged out. I login, and I don't get redirected to where I was before. Rinse repeat catch 22. Help!

I had a problem with my login dropping out earlier in the year.
I'll move the thread to the nuts and bolts forum where legoburner will find it more quickly.

How recently did this start happening? Have you tried deleting your cookies yet, if not then do so then see how it goes.

Started about a week ago.

I've deleted my dakka cookies, had no effect.

That would have been about the time of the re-release so chances are you were logged in at the time and your profile settings got a bit confused. Try deleting your cookies, staying away from dakka for a day and then coming back and checking the autologin box. I assume that you have been using the autologin box all this time, and it is logging you out and not logging you back in? Any more info you have will help me find the precise issue.

No remember I use the sekrit URL entry method. I never use the actual login except in this case where I was logged in, went to the second page, got logged out, and tried to use the autologin...and it was an endless loop.

remind me of that method? I think it has been obsoleted now...

The previous people's errors got fixed a while back. I think your issue might stem from using that url to access dakka. We now support multiple computers autologin, so just go to dakkadakka.com instead of that full URL when you want to access the site, then fill out the standard login form and check the 'autologin' box. You will need to clear your cookies on every machine you use, and wait 30 minutes after doing so before you access dakka again. Are you switching between machines a lot or are all the symptoms present on just one machine?

I also have this problem, while accessing at school. I log in, but every time I access a thread it logs me out. My browser allows cookies, however I have to access through a strict proxy server that blocks many pages. Dakka is not blocked, although could the problem be linked with a work/school proxy?

For me it's been on multiple machines.

blinky / stelek, is it only when viewing a thread that the problem occurs, or will it also happen with the forum home pages, the dakka home page, etc?

stelek, the 30 minutes is the session timeout which basically clears the server of cached info about your user.

It seems to be only when I'm going from page 1 to page 2 or from the last page and go back a page.

I uhh never visit home page really. You guys keep it dull for some reason lol.

ok, I'll look into those symptoms in a bit more detail over the next few weeks (really busy with other stuff right now) and then I'll let you know as and when a fix goes out.

For me it happens after i log in, and when i click on a link on the forums, (the one on the furthermost right side, with the most recent topic in each of the subforums)

It logs me out, and i've found a temporary fix - you have to copy the URL of a topic, and go straight to that without clicking on a link. Weird.
