Hey all, here's my latest project

Started this army few summers ago, and now started painting it again couple of weeks back for a tournament held here last weekend.

Theme was to make Camo pattern Tau with detailed urban bases and quite strong weathering.

Here's some pics.

HQ suits:

Crisis suit team 1

Crisis suit team 2

Stealth team, with team leader with bonding

Fire warriors

Kroots from the Bright eye tribe

Squad 1

Squad 2

Squad3

Hammerhead 1

Hammerhead 2

Hammerhead 3

Group pic from the Railhead squadron

In the tournament last friday I had a good time with them. I like how 5ed handels for most parts. Finished 8/38 with one 20-0 win 17-3 loss and 15-5 win.

Future additions include Broadsid unit, two Piranhas that I have assembled, and maybe few Forge suits to pose as new HQ ones. Also thinking about another FW unit and giving them both devilfishes. Thou might take a while before I add something for this army, but I post it here on blog side cause I do plann to make some additons.

Let me know what you think.

I must say this is a great looking Tau army. I love the camo design. Would have never thought about doing a Tau army with this theme.

Sometimes you just have to let em' go...

Nice to see Tau in another scheme other than standard schemes.

Especially painted as well and photographed as well as you do.

Good work, keep it up.

these are excellent. the camo on the hammerheads is especially well done.

my only feedback is that the woodland camo palette for you tau and the grey/green/brown kroot blend together. i personally like to see a larger difference in the palette on kroot vs tau (same with vespids i suppose). but that obviously a personal preference, as all of these are very nicely done.

One of the best! and fastest finished TAU armies out there. Both impressive feats. I really like it and the extra effort on basing alone makes a huge difference. Fantastic!

i was thinking about doing a tau army, but in red tiger camo, but then thought that is was going to take me 2 hours to paint a FW lol

I like the digital style camo, it's very Tau compared to the more organic camo usually prevalent with IG units.

The attention to detail on the bases and the dramatic posing of the various Crisis Suits really makes the army shine. Fantastic looking army. Thanks for posting the pics.

agreed eldramesha, but the way he has done it makes it fit perfectly, looks great none the less, allthough digi camo would look great.

is there much highlighting on the camo? or is it just weathering?

Thanks for all the comments people.

JD21290: Actually the camo is very fast to paint. The FW unit took me two evenings. IMO it's because you don't need to highlight it that much. I recomend you try it out.

brado: For the first unit's I painted way couple of years ago I tried to do highlights but it just ended up being waste of time, it didn't quite show up and took a lot of time. In the end for the suits and FWs I just quikly added some lighter tone of that camo color for otherwise finished camo not actually "highlighting" it. For Hammerheads I didn't do any highlights but just weathering. This way painting stays quite fast and certainly not slower that "normal".

Okay, that's just crazy - a Tau army - in a camouflage - that isn't some bright/urban color. Beautiful.

Thanks a lot for the praising words people.

Kanluwen: I blue tagged them for the photo shoot otherwise I think magnets or glue are the way to go.

brado: Weathering is started by painting strikes with different brown washes and some armour chipping with different greys and browns and black. Finaly I have given some finishing touches with MIG pigments.

SuCHaR: I'll post some tutorial later on the evening

I would really love a tutorial on how you did the Camo as well. The army looks amazing! Do you have any close ups of the stealth suits? Do you use GW colors, Vallajo (spelling?) or other brands?

Keep up the great work, it's quite inspiring!!

I thought I remembered seeing this army posted; then I saw my old post from months ago.

Good to see that you've not abandoned such a great looking army. The attention to detail to the posing, color choices and details on the bases.

Thanks for the long overdue update.

Looks amazing, painting that camo must have been really difficult. Kind of odd though that it's a woodland scheme on urban bases, but it looks awesome so who cares.
