There are more photos on my blog: http://blackdiamondgames.blogspot.com/2008/08/hellhounds-40k.html

This uses the standard Hellhound and the Pegasus Chemical Plant kit, along with a little plasticard. The two model kits come to $70 (still cheaper than the Forge World model), but there are enough parts in the chemical plant box set for several of these, either the same or creating other variants.

Just to clarify, does the box set come with enough tanks to build 3 such Hellhounds?

There are enough parts in the Pegasus kit to make 2 tanks like you see here. There's also a lot of other storage tanks included that aren't the same size, but could be used to make something different.

sweet....

a twin-tank version would be pretty cool, like the orig hellhound but with the smaller pegasus tanks (ideas for an ork skorcha keep popping into my head)

I'm a big fan of the single-tank Hellhounds - both FW's and people's conversions. It looks like the tank ends really abruptly at the front, though. Any chance we can get a front end shot? The detailing on the Pegasus tank is really nice, what with the rivets, pipes, and valve wheel!

Yes, I ended the tank abruptly in the front. The problem is that the tank is rounded on both ends, while the Forge World tank is more of a cylinder with a flat front and back. I couldn't get the second rounded end attachment on the tank without it looking like it was going to fall off the back. Check out the photo and let me know what you think.

I like what you've done here. Could you put linkage up for the pegasus?

I like how well the FW tank fits into the tank. However I love how huge the tank of death is on your hellhound. It's nice because you can always call it a world variant.

Yeah, I see what you mean. Although as the tank sort of has "segments", I wonder if you couldn't cut away one or two rows of the segments to have both rounded ends and have it fit in the bed of the Chimera. Matches the FW model nicely, though!

Here's a link to the Pegasus Chemical Plant kit, btw: http://www.thewarstore.com/product18602.html

I thought about that after reading the first post. You could easily trim a few segments off to use the curved cap on the end. The plastic on the Pegasus set is somewhat soft, so it's easy to trim without damaging it.

How did I not notice this kit before?

Also, really cool hellhound. It's got a sort of steampunk/dieselpunk look going thanks to the rounded tank.

The plastic isn't that soft. It's harder than the plastic GW use, but you can cut it easily with a saw. I've seen x-acto (knife) blades snap trying to cut it, though.

I'd use a razor saw and shorten the length of the main tank and add the end caps. The cyliner sides have enough panel lines to make it easy.

(Yes, I have several of these kits, and know how they go together. The tanks are a cylinder, made from two halves which fit togther to make a full circle [ in a " ( + ) " kind of way ] and the caps can then be glued on either end.)

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).

Dieselpunk. That was the word I was looking for. I don't know why it looks diesel, but it does.

Again, awesome!

(Bonus points for bringing the Pegasus Chem. Plant to our attention (via the Warstore no less) too...)
