Unfortunately, A does not equate B.
No new Chaos Codex has even been rumored.

No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby. |

I think a more appropriate question is not when we will get a new Chaos codex but when we will get a Chaos codex that meets the expectations of exisiting Chaos players.

Sorry, not until the sky is falling.
No living person can fulfill the expectations of existing chaos players about their dex.

I want the old Legion rules back. The fluff is in disarray now. feth you Gav Thorpe.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made. |

I'm tired of all the whining about the chaos codex. I know we lost our legions. I miss my bloodthirster and bloodletters. But it's still stupid powerful. Cult troops are troops no matter what mark you give your hq. You can have termies and oblits. They messed up the fluff, big deal. No more legion rules? No more craftworlds, either. Or ork clans. I prefer not having to take a special character to get goodies, like marines are getting. I just took over all in a tourney Saturday by beating three marine armies. Tougher marines? Bring em on. We need the challenge.

Props on the win, and on tougher marines, I do applaud your comment. I just, I dunno, wish marines were actually going to be tougher or interestingly better instead of so gimicky with required special characters and so many units that exist to take rules from other armies' cool units and then one up them.
And ironically, even though this is a thread actually about the chaos codex where whining about said codex would be for once justified ... I'll only reiterate how torqued I am that chaos dreads = retards in papermache armor, loyalist dreads = 3 flavors of decent to sweet (standard without going nuts, venerable WS5 BS5 reroll damage, siege AV13). Bugger that noise. And the other thing that chews at me is chaos lord's WS6 being nothing special with all those 1337 marine commanders now. But whatev, I can still take demon weapons and they can't

Don't worry - your Chaos Lord is still special. Unlike Chapter Masters who have 4 Attacks your Chaos Lord has 3. This makes him more unique and differentiated!
But whatev, I can still take demon weapons and they can't
Actually, marines can take Dark Blades now. On their vet srgs. And there's no Mastery Test. And they get a 3+ inv save with it.
But our daemon weapons are a whole lot more FUN! Stop hitting yourself! It looks like those wacky Chaos Lords are up to their old antics again!

Heres a point people keep neglecting. Chaos Space Marines have bolters, bolt pistols and CC Weapons. In close combat they hit like 2 Loyalist Marines. And much like the last Chaos Codex chaos players should rely on their Champions to do the work and not their Lords or Sorcs.
The codex needs an update. With a bit of adjusting it could be pretty fair. I do miss the Legions though.

Once again, we don't care about their power. We care about how interesting they are. Right now, they're not. And the changes in then new Marine Codex (Cassius is tougher than Typhus, Tiggy is a better psyker than Ahriman, they can all get Dark Blades and super-Iron Halo Stormshields, their Commanders have more attacks than Chaos Lords) just make Chaos even more pathetic.

I do miss my Emperors Children. It was a wonderful fluffy army that never got cries of cheese.
I fully understand the power of the newest Chaos codex. I can see the power of oblits, plague marine troops, and sorcerers with Lash. Yes you can build an army that will dominate on the table top (more or less).
But I lost all my fluff, I lost everything that made my beloveded Damonettes different than someone else's bloodletters. They took away mutated hull, but gave it to loyalists. They took away vet skills, skills gained by living for 10,000 years, and give them to loyalists fresh off the assembly line.
This is why I'm pissed about what I see coming out of the new SM codex. They took everything away from Chaos leaving it bland and uniform and gave it to the Smurfs making them customizable and gifted.

yeah but ...
nvm the chaos book sucks. The Spase Marinez even get better landraiders now. But chaos can still take ... they can take ... havoc launchers are pretty cool. And so is ... termies get combi-plasma.
Defiler is a cool kit.
