Hey guys,
I am going to be painting some Emporers Children pretty soon and I want to paint some pink on them bad boyz. I primer black so what would be a good foundation color to paint instead of trying to apint pink over black primer?

Isn't white even harder to paint over black primer than pink?

I don't think so. The pink is going to be a fairly light color anyways and should cover fine. If it doesn't cover at the edges, it will bleed through white, which will look like highlighting. Paint up a test model using a throw away figure.

The best thing I've found for painting many light colours is an astronomicon grey (foundation) undercoat.

I had 200+ skaven and their hands and feet were painted in pink, though I was using Polly S colors. I would basecoat with Magenta and then drybrush Tentacle Pink with final highlights having a little bit of white mixed in. If this is a new color scheme for you, I'd definately recommend inventing a couple of hours in a test model to really figure out what works for you.

You could go, Black prime -> Hormagaunt Purple (foundation) -> then build up to tentacle pink in whatever way you like best.

I think I am going to try Redbeards idea first and go with a lighter foundation color under the pink.

Thanks.

I would mix some white into your pink for the foundation. That way, when you are ready to just throw the pink on, it will go on super bright.

This works with every bright color over black.
