i guess this is kinda a dumb question but when it says that a unit gains magic resistence (2) does that mean like they get plus two to their dispel roll or is that like two extra dice just for them? and does it count towards the dispel of the entire spell if the spell is targeting multpile untis like...drain life effects every unit within 12" so does the extra dispel dice or bonus add to stopping the enitre spell or just it affecting the unit with the resistence?

U only get the extra dispell dice if that unit is targeted by a spell. I.E. wardancers have magic restinace 1 so if a spell targets them you get a bonus dispell dice to help stop the spell.

right yea...ok that makes sense. however, im still confused..what if a spell targets two units...does that mean its an area effect spell or something and you dont get the extra dispel dice?

It must be a pretty big AoE spell in order to do that, never run into that problem, but id have to guess that you would get the extra dispell dice because of the MR unit.

If the Spell Effects the Unit (Does not need to target it) than you get the MR dice. However this must be determined at the time of casting so if a unit is within 12" of a 12" AOE spell than it will generate dice.

You only get to generate dice of the unit with the highest MR of the effected units.

So if 2 units are being effected one with MR 2 and the other with MR 1 you only add 2 dice and not 3

the only spells i can think that can effect two units are drain magic and cleansing flare

well if you a wizard in each unit, then it would effect them both, although that would be a bit rare

As noted, MR comes into effect if a spell affects OR targets a given unit. If multiple units with MR are going to be affected, only the highest applies.

Quite a number of spells can affect multiple targets, though I don’t think Drain Magic would count. It doesn’t directly affect models; it just makes casting values higher.

I know that the casket of souls can affect multiple units and if it does then any unit affected that has magic resistance (x) contributes a number of dispel dice equal to x
