I need something to move about 8 Eldar gravtanks The GW case is kind of silly for tanks. I don't think I can fit 2 wave serpents in a Sabol tray. Maybe the motor pool? Or should I just go buy a pistol case?

Sabol division fits almost 12 grav tanks. I use the 2 inch foams.

From left to right, how WIDE are the tanks in question.
About 5"?
I'd suggest Sabol.
Either get a sabol tray that's taller than the tank and fill in the extra space in the tray with other minie (since 2 eldar tanks will NOT fit in a standard tray, IIRC their size).
Alternatively, get 2 cases that are each slightly larger then half of the width of the tanks.
Pull out foan in the shape of the tank's PROFILE, and slide the tank sideways down into the tray. this should leave about half the tank sticking out. Pluck the foam on the second tray & slide it down on top of the tank (basically sandwiching the 2 trays together.
You can use some of the pieces you plucked out to pad the top & bottom of the trays (to protect from rub damage).
I'd estimate that you could fit 3 or 4 tanks into 2 trays like this.
If you do this, ALWAYS put these models on TOP of whatever Sabol case you're using. The less weight pressing down on them the better.

I'm not worried about the height of the model. I will try out the sandwhiching thing.

I actually use a shipping container from GW with two long sheets of bubble wrap. Holds five smimmers and works perfectly.

I use Sabol as well, though I'm transporting marines/Tyranids. Given my experience, you should be able to fit 2 skimmers per 2" tray.

I use Sabol 1.5" trays for grav tanks. Remove the turrets and they fit nice & snug.
You can fit one waveserpent or two falcon hulls in each tray, with their turrets, and have leftover space for things like vypers or jetbikes.

I'm going to be making a custom case out of cardboard, and line it with foam.
It should carry 6 Eldar Grav-Tanks.
