and before anyone asks, I did not get to see any of the actual army list or the bestiary section, so don't even bother to ask me to confirm anything you've read in a rumors thread. But I can offer some tidbits:

My buddies and I got to look (for a decent amount of time - not quite a minute) at the front side fluff section (it's huge) and the pretty pretty pictures in the color section. WOW!

I need to reiterate this fact.

WOW!

The color hobby/show-off section looks amazing. The lord on a juggie we've all seen is there, as is his alternate head. There's another mounted lord that looks fantabulistic. I think everyone has seen the plastic marauder horsemen. There will be new chosen models (again, don't bother asking me to confirm any rumors, I have no idea), some of the photo'd chosen had bitchin great weapons. I think there were plastic warriors in this section that had great weapons, but admittedly, they may very well have been conversions.

Overall the book is huge (16 or so pages short of the SM book, iirc), VERY beautiful, and I think Mortal playes will be quite happy with it.

Or they'll bitch about not having demons anymore, even though they've never used them (I have never seen a mortals army with demons in it at least). But a certain amount of mouthbreathing and complaining is expected.

There is an attitude that not having an insanely optimized, one shot, six stage, omnidirectional, inevitable, mousetrap of an assassin list army somehow means that you have foolishly wasted your life building 500 points of pure, 24 karat, hand rolled, fine, cuban fail. That attitude has been shown, under laboratory conditions, to cause cancer of the fun gland.

Why should they?

Well ok are they overpriced, inferior close combat troops that move just a little too slow in fantasy for me to want to run them? lol

Chaos warriors are still human, just. No way on earth (even the warhammer version of earth) should they be M5.

Then people who want to play effective armies will still only take the human Chaos Warriors who were smart enough to get themselves horses instead of the regiments who fight on foot.

And the biggest failing of the book. Awesome models on foot...useless in game.

From what I have seen, they are still M4, but are basically what Chosen are currently instead (4+/2A), so for 16pts (shield included) they are 3+sv 2A WS5 troops. Not great, but not as bad as they were either, and an OK unit at least now.

The correct pronunciation is Imperial Guard and Stormtroopers, "Astra Militarum" and "Tempestus Scions" are something you'll find at Hogwarts.

The last 3 or 4 pages of the color section is devoted to those models that are making their way over from the Beasts book, Schepp, but they don't look like any new models. That doesn't mean new models aren't coming, I guess, but simply that they weren't done in time for the book. But yeah, the current line of Chaos Ogres, Shaggoth, Dragon Ogres are all in there.

OH POOP ON A STICK, I KNEW I FORGOT SOMETHING LAST NIGHT.

PLASTIC

DEMON

PRINCE.

Allow me to say that again. A plastic Demon Prince. Yes, I said a plastic Demon Prince. There were a few different variations of it in the sextastic pictures, and it looked like Belakor moe sexified and cool-and-the-ganged up.

Discuss, I'm off to work.

No new Dragon Ogres makes me sad.

Plastic ones would have made me very happy!

No new Chaos Ogres only makes me a little sad, as nicer looking ones are easier to convert using the plastics.

Plastic Daemon Price?

I'll have to wait until I can see it, but it does sound nice. Plus, I'm sure it will provide plenty of conversion fodder across multiple platforms...

Yoor Speeshawl too Gawd!

Someone from Chamber of the Everchosen had a good sitdown with the book. 4 point Mauraders with a built in Ld reroll, Chaos Hounds that don't cause panic hells yes. A bit overloaded in the specials and rare department but is that troll guy is real you can field an army of trolls.

Godless-Mimicry wrote:Well, finally got it done. Hope this will keep things tidy and will stop people from asking silly questions when the answers are right under their noses:

Rules:
- Army wide re-roll panic
- Mark of Khorne causes Frenzy, has different effect for Giant
- Mark of Nurgle causes -1 penalty to the WS or BS of a model attacking
- Mark of Slaanesh benefits the unit with Itp, also gives ASF to characters and rare choices
- Mark of Tzeentch gives +1 to ward save (6+ ward to models without one), also +1 to cast for sorcerers
- May be other effects for different units but if there are, they are currently unknown
- Gaze of the Gods table, roll 2D6 for the following:
- Characters roll every time they win a challenge
- Chosen roll once at the start of the game
- Trolls roll every time they successfully regenerate two or more wounds at once
- 2 on the table causes stupidity, 7 does nothing, 11 makes unit fear causing, 12 allows you to roll twice more and take both benefits. The remainder of results are various benefits, some of which are MR3, stubborn, ward saves, hatred, and stat boosts.
- Chaos characters may now take Chaos Gifts on top of Magic Items, much like the VC's Vampiric Powers
- Lore of Slaanesh returns virtually unchanged

Models:
- new plastic Knights (5 for 17.50EURO)
- new plastic Horsemen (5 for 17.50EURO)
- new plastic War Hounds (10 for 20EURO)

- main release for November 1st; battalion will be available with 12 Chaos Warriors, 16 Marauders, 5 Horsemen, 10 Hounds

Special Characters:
- Archaon; 675pts, still has Dorghar, is unhindered by difficult terrain
- Galrauch
- Sigvald; Slaanesh champion with mirror shield, gets distracted by own reflection in shield causing stupidity
- Wulfrig the Wanderer; Marauder character, animal in challenges
- Khornate Daemon Princess character
- NEW "The Lightning God" Shaggoth character; 2nd oldest Shaggoth; attracts any lightning spell within 12"; S8 A6 attacks do D3 wounds each

Chaos War Shrine
chariot type model, gives benefits much like the Dark Elves' Cauldron of Blood; allows one per turn to roll on the Gods table as one of its benefits; may not be joined by characters, moves and fights as a monster; radius for it's effects is 12" and they work in the shooting phase, the one benefit I know it can give is to allow any unit in range to roll on the Gaze of the Gods table

Ok guys, as far as know that's all, don't think I've forgotten anything. Hoping to get info on lores and magic items asap, and will be back as soon as I get new info, I assure you.

Enjoy, and peace out.

Hmm, looks like the list lost the eazy-mode solution to enemy warmachines (namely furies and screamers as the demons and beasts are now unavailable), but there seems to be lots of nice stuff to compensate.

Meh, Hounds can still do the job and should be cheap enough to pull it off I would think. Still you're right in that the lack of Furies or any kind of Flier makes it harder to stop well deployed defensive armies using Warmachines.

Okay, I can understand and appreciate GW not wanting to put out a character like Gerriodur the Troll King who allows a monster army without lots of good playtesting. Consequently, he gets put in this book. From a fluff perspective, though - why is he in this book instead of BoC?

I don't think that there is a good reason, other than the fact that if GW is not going to let Daemons into a Mortal List, the available unit count was already going to be painfully low.

So, the Northern Barbarians are still on terms with some monsters, no beasts, and absolutley do not want to summan Daemons.

Anymore.

When the players say they want balanced armies, GW listens and produces things like this. When players say they want lots of options, we get things like C: CSM 4. There's no winning for all the losing.

GW studio staff have bi-weekly mind wipes, and have since forgotten that they did this or the reasons involved in doing it. How else do you explain their month-to-month choices?

Thats the link to the rumour summary on Chambers of the everchosen. It gets updated on an almost daily basis, so check back often. Its got most of the special characters named on there now.
What it doesn't have is any mention of a plastic Daemon prince. As most of these rumours are from sources "in the know", it seems strange that it isn't mentioned

"Marion! For Gods sake, you're going to die!"
"Ah, but then I'll wake up in a magical fantasy world, filled with virgins!"
"You mean Games Workshop?" Mongrels
