Been Around the Block

I have posted a brief contents review of the September 2008 UK White Dwarf (which hasn't hit the shelves yet) on my blogsite:-

http://battlereporter.blogspot.com/search/label/White%20Dwarf

My review focuses on Warhammer Fantasy gamers. It's really a 40k WD this month.

Fantasy includes some new Warhammer Raiding rules (which have potential but need more development, which hopefully comes in part 2 next month), a few more confirmed Chaos Warrior details and 2 high res pictures of the new Chaos Lord and Marauders.

Just thought I'd let you folks know in case anyone's interested.

All the best,
Sigmar

PS. Chaos confirmed release date is 1st November (I assume this is the spearhead set if they follow the normal pattern)

I hate posts that redirect you another site I haven't heard of. I don't know what is going to pop up on my machine or whether it is SFW. Why not post it here.

2014 will be the year of zero GW purchases. Kneadite instead of GS, no paints or models. 2014 will be the year I finally make the move to military models and away from miniature games.

It's more of a summary of its contents.

In any case, you mention Jervis' bit about Specialist Games and their future (if any). Can you pleas elaborate on what he said.

Their plans in a nutshell (his words, not mine) is a full color Specialist Games catalogue due out in time for Christmas.

Wow. A catalogue. That's truly amazing.

Careful though, it's just possible that my line above could be considered a drowning hazzard, so soaked in sarcasms it is.

Last I heard, the next SG releases would be some Blood Bowl blister packs. Whether they are new sculpts or just some sort of repackaging wasn't clear to me.

If you really want to know, I have the US 344 right in front of me right now. The main focus of the issue is AoBR and its contents. There is Warhammer Raids, Masterclassing Cold Ones Riders (new plastics), Rules for Council of Rivendell, The Three Hunters, and more LoTR items.

Yes BB is getting some new/re releases, this info was at GD LA.

As for the Specialist Game's Catalog, at least they are trying to draw some attention to the gaming lines. Its not much but right now they need all the help they can get. Even if its really pathetic, its something.

Oh aye another catalogue, like the one they did a few years back, that he noted might not even happen.

Oh but don't forget Jervis threw out the old line that there is a group of sculpters all chomping at the bit to do new SG models, which might happen if they ever get the chance to put them on the schedule. So thats not for at two years then if ever.

Meh

I was hoping for some more Blood Bowl players, but there seems little chance of it anytime soon. I'd love to eat those words, but I can't see it happening. I almost laughed out loud when he said some of the designers would like to do new Specialist Games, yeah like Kirbys going give the thumbs up on that idea.

Just a filler Standard Bearer on a subject that has barely changed in a long time.

Thanks to the free mini's I still haven't received my subscription issue, I think the postman stole it for himself, forcing me to get one from my not-so local GW store.

But yes, the standard bearer article is more of the same, he hints at things that may or may not happen. I mean come on now, more background books were promised for Inquisitor but they stopped after the Thorians background book and released the Thorian inquisitor model a year late and only in very limited numbers. Add to that the ever decreasing SG model range and zero input given by the developers.

Even by Jervis's standards it was a page and a half of vague, which is disappointing since Blood Bowl is probably my favourite ever GW system.

I haven't received mine either, so I asked the GW Rotterdam manager yesterday when it would arrive (it was already in the store!). When it should arrive he could not tell, but he did told me why it is late. Because of the miniatures on the cover they have to send it as a parcel instead of the usual postal service.
