Anyone hear the rumor or have information on "New Base (size) for 40k Bikes?"

I heard the were going to be like the GF9 rounded cavalry bases?

Anyone, anyone, Bueller, Bueller...

Yes, they've been mentioned before. They can be seen on the new Marine plastic Scout bikes.

Maybe I will not have spend a small fortune on bases from GF9 anymore.

the ones GW show are made from a cav. base with the standard round base cut in half at each end.

Not anymore.
The new bases are confirmed by Phil Kelly at LA GD.

Now all they need to do is sell them in bundles, instead of this garbage "grab bag o' bases" they're hucking lately. I'd buy a bunch if just to save the time cutting, greenstuffing, and filing.

Knowing GW it might take a long time before we'll be seeing those new bases anywhere else other than in those scout bike boxes.

I have a feeling Neal at the Warstore's going to be offering a lot of base-less Scout bikes soon...

That may be useful, unless I meet a 'base fascist' . I plan to make Carapace armoured Rough Riders out of the Scout bikes so 40mm round bases will be fine for them.

I'm not a base facist, but I'll be damned if I'm gonna let somebody drop a model on the table with a base the size of a soda can and threaten to dock me sportsmanship if I object. Not that anyone is talking about doing that. I'm just saying.

If they're on a bigger base, they are easier to hit with templates and blast, easier to get more guys into combat with them. Why worry about it?

Large bases = less models get covered by blast

And less models in close combat.

all 40k bases should be round as all WFB bases are square
40mm monster bases look much better on things like bikes and RR's than cav. bases.

under 4th that may have been true, but in 5th I really don't see it.

My warboss on a bike has a 40mm round base, all the other bikes I put on calvary bases so they are more stable (and look better). The larger base on the WB usually means he's in combat with more models then would have been possible without a base - more outside edge means more models can get within 2" of him.

Possbily on the blasts if every bike were on a 40mm base (which is too large IMO for the bikers, but for a character I think it's fine), you'd catch less models, but with partials = full hit now, if they are spread out at max coherency, you're more likely to hit at least one model even with a bad scatter. Small blast hardly catches more then one model anyway if they are at max coherency.

Do we have any definitive answer on the dimensions of these things? I'm halfway into making a biker army right now and I really don't want to discover late in the game that I need to rebase my entire army.

got my 1st base complaint 0_o
my local GW will no longer let me use my ghazghull model since he is on a large base, not sure if they realize, but the 40mm base he comes with is a little on the tiny side, if on a hill he falls over alot, its for stability, but they seem to think im gaining an unfair bonus of him being in contact with more models, nothing about more models being in contact with him.

Ohhh crap. I have put all my Raptors on the 40mm Termie bases so they don't fall over ever 30 seconds(Had no luck using coins and other weighting systems.)

I think your local GW is just being anal...My local GW has no problem with bases sizes. Just don't go overboard, lol.

My roughriders/warbikes/ space marine bikers are all on 4mm rounds, no way in hell am i rebasing 50-60 models to give them roughly the same size (surface area) bases.
