Hey it's my first post here at dakka, and here I will state my main reason for signing up. I wanted to know if anyone in my area plays AT-43, because no one at my lgs does, and I am really into it. I also signed up because this forum is pretty active with AT-43 players (R's boards are like molasses).

I feel your pain in finding players I started a yahoo group to help me find and unite players in my area (NH) thats one way to find players, another is do a searce for groups, clubs forums , fan sites, and promote promote promote.(that your looking for players)
Your welcome to stop by NEAT-43 we got members from all over those more localy meet up on the first monday of the month to game and talk at-43 we have done four so far and are doing well and Im getting some games in that I other wise may have not. If you have a game store that can host a game night you might want to lead up a recruitment effort to get players out often time the local store just doesnt have the man power to cover everything so having someone to take charge of a game or two is good for the store and the game community.

Hmm, Rackham's site is super slow to approve of my registration. Did i screwup or are they slow?

I'm looking for AT-43 players in the Irvine, California area. I caved and bought some figs from the firesale.

They are a little slow to OK registration - it took ~4 days when I first signed up. Just try checking back each day and logging in. Also, they were closed over the holidays - IIRC the company president indicated they would be off through tomorrow (Monday 1-12-09). Welcome to the AT-43 addiction, er, hobby.

They're slow right now because of the Rackham to Rackham Entertainment transition(lot of people being shifted around from where they were).

Where is Irvine? I'm up by Lompoc/Santa Maria, but I'll be in the San Diego-ish area this weekend(wife and I are going to Legoland!).

You should check the forum, too - no one asked if it was okay to repost that list on Dakka Dakka, so you're assuming that no single individual on that list would not be okay with you spreading the info around. Seeing as how abuses of trust have been a concern of yours, I'd think you'd have thought of that before posting up the information. Very uncool. :(

People will see it when they get onto the AT-43 forums...you could just say "Hey, there's a list of players on the AT-43 forums in the 'Community and Events' forum, come on over to the AT-43 website and register!" and then you kill two birds with one stone.

I concur with Cairnius, you have a long list of personal emails addresses there, it ought to be seen as privileged information.

Has EVERYONE - and I mean more than 'most' -, has everyone CONFIRMED its ok these details are for open distribution? And I do mean confirmed no 'assumed its ok'.

The list is accessible to everyone via the Rackham website. Everybody that posted his name was fully aware that everybody has access to his email.
It is not from a closed area of the forum.

I wouldn't have posted mine, but if others want to do it who I am to object.

THERE not HERE. I am arguing courtesy. People expect, maybe naively, that posts belong in the thread mentioned, or perhaps linked to them. I can fairly believe that many if not most will not want the personal data being used as a public database. Just because you can find it, doesnt mean you have to package it and spam it onto other forums, it crosses the line.

They dont complain because they dont actually know of it. Not that thats an excuse. You mentioned yourself you wouldn't add your own data to the list, which should tell you all you need to know. I certainly wouldnt agree to this and others who post on this thread. So far you have had no support for what you have done and three sources of criticism. This possibly indicates more than just Dakka attitude.

Privacy is a big deal, which is why you wouldn't put your information up there. Let that be your conscience telling you what's right and wrong here, and pull the list down. Maybe if I was the only person pointing out the error you could just dismiss it, but you have two other parties, one of whom is extremely friendly to your cause here, concurring with me.

Did you not get the value of my alternative choice? You can get people registered on the AT-43 website at the same time you point them at that address list...you see the utility of that option, right?
