so after reading the thread: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/217785.page
I was thinking that since Necron armies, even at higher point games, have at most 3 maybe 4 troops slots filled.
Why not just focus on flat-out killing your opponent's troop choices.
Destroyers are AWESOME headhunters, as are Immortals

the General plan:
2 units of warriors (maybe 15/15 or 20/10)
3 untis of Destroyers
3 units of 2x Heavy Destroyers
during setup plan which objective you 'need', ideally on a flank, old with the large warrior squad/squads
focus all the rest of the army's killing power on the central objective
then proceed to the far objective

I'm seeing this would be a strategy to tie.
I was wondering if anyone had any ideas to hammer this direction out

Hunting enemy scoring units is viable, yes. The problem is in the details. How do you stop 180 orks from scoring? How do you protect your rear-holding warriors from fast-moving enemy assault units, who aren't interested in Dancing With the Star Gods? What do you do when faced with an enemy that WANTS you to close? With an enemy who is more mobile, and can evade most of your fire? These are the sorts of things you need to plan for.

With the Destroyer list, I've found it is more resilient when the Destroyers hang at range, and destroy one unit at a time with massed fire. You can make it very expensive for an enemy to move forward that way, while avoiding most return fire. The Deceiver is assault-deterence, used to keep nasty things off your killer robots from outer space.
