Right, lying in my Pit last night, waiting for the Pixies to come along and send me to the land of Nod (don't really like going there. Too many Lasers) this idea flitted into my head...
Essentially, I am proposing a Campaign System, played using the Warhammer Rule Set, but using the Skills, Experience and Advancement from Mordheim, with a few necessary modifications.
What I am aiming for us to produce is an entry into Warhammer for those either starting new armies, or coming into it for the first time (bless them). The idea is that you start off with a fairly small force, say, 500-750 points. Some modification might need to made to the Army Selection rules, such as reducing minimum number of Regiments, limiting Magic Levels severely (no Mage can start higher than Lvl 1) and so on.
From this, the gamer should wind up with a starting force that is a) cheap to collect and get started with b) Looks like a Lordling from one of the Factions either acting as a Mercenary, or out to forge his own Kingdom in the Border Princes. Thus, character light, a fair selection of different troops and so on.
As the army progresses, and the General gains in experience, so will the size of game allowed grow. Thus, once the General has hit say, 20 Experience (number out the air there) his maximum points goes up by 250 or some such. This reflects either increased confidence from Sponsors, or a growing reputation for his band of cut price cut throats.
So, thats the bare bones of the idea. I am looking for absolutely any creative input. Doesn't matter if it's positive or negative, as long as it is creative. Any idea is a good idea, though whether it can fit into such a project is a different matter.
For example, one idea I did have was to have a small raiding force (using the old Mordheim Rules pretty much as is, minus the experience) that can be used to seek out new lands, legendary items etc..
