Hi folks I just received my Mercs miniatures goods and decided to post a little review about it. ( dont know if its the right place on forum though)

First heres the link for the MERCS minis site.
Its a new company but i was really impressed by the looks of their first two minatures...

http://www.mercsminis.com/Default.aspx

Dont be fooled by the 35mm miniatures sentence on title screen these are NOT that big and fit very nice with your 28 or 30mm ranges... dont believe me check the sizes at

http://www.mercsminis.com/scale.aspx

So now with introductions made heres my review.

I ordered from their site in the 6th of Setember and payed by paypall, they mailed it on the 8th and the minis traveled from the US to Europe/Portugal arriving on the 15th Setember... If thats not fast I dont know what is! Also it didnt got held at customs.

The minis came on a bubbled envelope wrapped in bubble sheet inside plastic zip bags. So all got here safe and not bended or broken... Although for those that like fancy artwork or design on blisters may be disapointed since theres nothing.
Once I looked at minis I was surprised how sharp they are... Mouldlines are very very small although one mouldline goes in the sniper miniature eye( not good) but the overall sharpness of cast, discreet mouldlines makes these miniatures a superb product.
The metal seems similar to GW one and is sturdy.
I tried to take some pics of the minis but taking photos of metal is very hard... although I think these shows how sharp castings are.

The sniper: comes with a base warmachine style, a backpack, sniper rifle and body.( 3 parts and 1 base)
The Heavy assault: Comes also with warmachine styled base, a backpack, amno feed, weapon and body. ( 4 parts and 1 base )

Overall I would give MERCS the following rates

Shipping handling 10/10
Blisters presentation 2/10
Minis quality 9/10

Superb minis with awesome futurisc look I cant wait for more!

Hm, it's nice that they added those scale comparison shots on their site, they look pretty much inscale with everthing out there.

The supply does not get to make the demands.

The guys have only recently started. Buy their first two models and they will be able to make some more.

If you want to photograph bare metal you need to give it a light wash with dark ink.

I'm looking forwards to my set all the more now!

Yeah I was thinking about getting these last month until I noticed they're only 28mm (and not the 35mm claimed by the manufacturer). I can't really justify the price tag on them at the moment, maybe if they release a more economical set or at least a few more types so I don't feel so harshly done by on shipping I will consider it, not atm though.

We've been discussing these with friends, and they would make perfect Jade Vessel fodder, so I guess after your review it's a few more clients.

Cheers mate!

Their plan seems to be to make a squad of individual character figures, and an enemy squad.

The figures are the right size to fit with a lot of existing ranges so it comes down to style and aesthetics whether you think they fit or not.

Personally I am not heavily committed to any SF range (except GW Tau) so I can take these figures and use them where I like.

I could use these on the systems I collect, 40k or infinity but I just got these because the miniatures are so sweet...I will be painting them just for the fun of it. Also its my way to support the guys, hoping they continue to develop more. So much talent should not be wasted.

I really enjoyed the looks and feel of these minis, theres not many scifi minis outhere with this quality. Most small companies starting go fantasy and most of the times leeching GW style.
Like with infinity chaps now I also support MERCS.
I hope they gather enough interest around them to maintain the project viable.

They look a perfect fit in size. Styling is perhaps a bit less anime-ish than Yu Jing and would go better with Nomads or Araidna.

Here's a size comparison picture with a range of GW figures. From left to right:

A girl gang member from Judge Dredd converted with a hat. 27mm sole to eyes.
The MERCS Heavy weapons guy, unassembled, 28mm sole to eyes.
An original plastic beaky marine.
A Bogart style detective out of the Call Of Cthulhu range, 25mm sole to eyes.
An original plastic Imperial Army soldier, 28mm sole to eyes.
The MERCS Sniper, 23mm sole to eyes (he has a very crouched pose.)

I think this illustrates the size of the MERCS figures and the point about style. The IG figure has a very thick torso, long arms, and short legs. The gang member and Bogey have fairly natural human proportions. The MERCS figures have long legs, which to me is part of anime styling.

Awesome mate.
Yes I agree the legs with big boots of mercs is very common on anime styled things... Wich I love on scifi miniatures.

As a side note MERCS site is developing a forum for fans anytime soon they are also working hard on making the final 3 MERCS minis for this faction... They say that they will release more artwork and greens pics on gallery soon... So I guess its good news for scifi miniature fans outhere.

Huge pic. It could be added to Navarro's article with a resize on it, if you like.

Done.

Can I use the same image in the main thread without having to upload it to imageshack?

Good idea and thanks mate.

I hiperlinked these thread images to my dakka gallery. But I used my uploaded imageshack stuff outside dakka.

Got my Mercs today. Can't fault them, really good cast's, great poses and a brilliant service. I only ordered them exactly a week ago and it was an international order. Can't wait for the other three poses and hopefully an alternative battlegroup.

Merc's keep it up........................
