Here's yet another Darklands: Mighty Monsters Part Deux update for the Ograx Reivers, because Yannick's Done The Great Club Unit... hurrah!

This week we have:
•sculpt work in progress updates from Yannick Fusier;
•a link to the forums where you can see this project's fulfilment;
•a reminder that if you play Darklands, head to our forums to find more players!
•...and anything else you can expect from us over the next few months.

Get some...

Yannick's done two things for us recently - shown us pics of assembled Ograx Reivers, and the two alternates of the banner bearer and herald!

I know we keep going on about it, but Konraad's Mob, Ograx Reiver Unit is brilliant... and if you're bored of them, this is the last update for them on this project, because the shieldwall / two club variants are part of a different project. So you can rejoice!

From left to right, back row: Maanfrad, Aadolf, Aalric, front row: Kaarl, Konraad, Ottaa
From left to right, back row: Maanfrad, Aadolf, Aalric, front row: Kaarl, Konraad, Ottaa

The champion of the unit is Konraad and he looks positively murderous.

He's a chunky fellow!

The banner bearer is Maanfrad...

Yannick has fixed the not-too-upright stance of the haft and he's looking much better.

Kaarl has got the biggest horn we've ever seen.

He's certainly got the horn!

The fattest member of the unit, Aalric (and that's saying something), is now done!

Look at the size of that fuel tank for a love machine!

The awesome Ottaa was done a while back but he's still awesome and worth another view.

That's a big chopper as well!

Fraad is the alternate warrior of Maanfrad...

...and he's done! And very angry, clearly.

Aarlo is also completed, and that means the Great Club unit is now done.

Yannick will be doing the other two units - the Shieldwall and Two Club Ograx Reivers - before sending anything to us. He only really has to change the arms and add shields, so that shouldn't take long. It's easier - and quicker - than us casting them up and sending casts back to him, too!

Same with Aadolf.

So, it's likely these guys will be a June shipment now; which, when all's said and done, means we'll be getting three units rather than one.

That's definitely worth the wait!

What's Next?

Our Bob Płociennik will be sculpting the Sentinels, Kerberokolossos Unit as well as the Leiptrolls, and Yannick Fusier will do Murcunn and the Oghu Wardens, Oghureach Unit. Uuroch will probably go to Bob as Yannick is... not quick. The results are definitely worth it though...

I really like the ogres.

I wonder if I can swap out my metal lizards that I'm still waiting on and get some of these guys instead.

Probably wouldn't hurt to ask Rob...

Some of the digital resculpting is because it's cheaper to get Bob to do a full digital resculpt

and then add on whatever variants are needed for later KS projects than to get a traditional sculptor to make the changes on an existing resin model

not sure if that's why Angedern got redone but it wouldn't surprise me

I also suspect that it's being done to simplify the moulding process. I seem to remember Roberto's scultps end up with a large number of cuts and fiddly parts.

Angedern has a lot of fiddly little bits, that's for sure.

The big question is which one should I get?

The answer isn't all of them as I know that's the most likely response I'll get.

Leaning toward the dual blades at the moment... but big giant Angedern will forever remain one of my favorites!

I knew part of the reason for the resculpts was the need to make new variants for some of the characters, but I hadn't thought about how a resculpt would help with the moulding process. I know Tim's had a fair bit of difficulty with some of them, so I have to wonder if that's what led to it. It was definitely the case with Ap Wroch, as I know his wings were particularly hard (as all my Brythoniaid miscast bags were full of them.). I'm not the biggest fan of all the resculpts, but I understand the reasons, and if the added income from these is enough to keep them going, and finishing their Kickstarter backlog, then so be it.

I do really love the pose of that Angedern with the cleaver, resting it on his shoulder.

The two sword version is completely new if I'm not mistaken?

Can I ask what backlog you had sent, from what Kickstarter?

I am still waiting for:
nihtglōm, wold manasceancan
selkilias, skorpion major
scethæn, crag beetle
schyrós, venerable khelon
uuroch, scion of conand

Uuroch, funded in Savage Hordes III nearly 3 years ago has -not- -even- -been- sculpted yet!

It's become more than a tad frustrating watching shipping dates pushed out again and again and now I;m being told "This year" which is all sorts of vague.

None of those that I noticed in the 11 e-mails.

A lot were hero variants. Both versions of Thuulac. Xet. The Nucranc. Ammon. Cholloch.

Still a chunk to go:

That is a really attractive big dragon man sculpt, may add on to a future order just to paint. Am I right that all those versions of him can be built without the helmet? It looks like it's a separate piece.

I'm waiting patiently for the Crushers to get done, but given that I decided not to late pledge for them and AOS hasn't released a Gutbuster armybook, where they're destined to be gargants, I suppose I'm fine quietly working on other things. Eventually Mierce + GeeDub will give me the tools I need to derp around with giant croc men

another Mierce Monday (wonder if that will be standard from now on)

We have an update for Darklands: Mighty Monsters, and it's a cracker...

This week there's:
•sculpt work in progress updates from Tim Prow;
•a link to the forums where you can see this project's fulfilment;
•a reminder that if you play Darklands, head to our forums to find more players!
•...and anything else you can expect from us over the next few months.

Let's Cinderella to the ball with some...

There's five lovely new miniatures to show this week, for the Infernii!

Tim Prow's been working hard on the Cowering Fiends of Dis recently, and whilst they're not quite done yet, they're almost there...

As always, we start with the champion of the unit, who is called Kaio...

...missing his lower jaw in this shot (no need to send one to Tim)...

Rubal is the banner bearer of these guys, but he's not yet done -

rb-2.0.0&w=700&fit=max&v=1559559094&auto=format&gif-q=50&q=92&s=a5f9fbe3cfa61285801b0f5d7de9f631[/imf]

- see above for how he will look...

A warrior of the unit, Acchus is minus his bottom half here...

[img]https://ksr-ugc.imgix.net/assets/025/357/177/98c5e4b6607b362580eb6abecedcc30b_original.jpg?ixlib=rb-2.0.0&w=700&fit=max&v=1559558717&auto=format&gif-q=50&q=92&s=39ddaca5adc7bce5cd06aa2eb470767c" border="0" />

...and his lower jaw!

Kholko is another member of the unit without his bottom half...

...he's looking good though!

Lucus has his bottom jaw, but his bottom half seems to be some insulating tape.

How bizarre.

Ubus is the alternate of the banner bearer, and you can see how Rubal will look in terms of his head and body too.

So these guys are not yet finished; the shield straps need doing, as does the differences in those shields - damage, wear and tear and so on. But they're almost there, so we're expecting these guys to be an August shipment...

What's Next?

With the Flameborn of Gwaelod and the Cowering Fiends of Dis done, that leaves just the Spite of Ýdron and Marzaon from this project - and both will be done by Bob Płociennik. So this project is almost done in terms of sculpts!

There's movement on Darklands: Warriors of Baalor, so rejoice, Fomoraic fans!

This week we have:
•sculpt work in progress updates from Yannick Fusier;
•a link to the forums where you can see this project's fulfilment;
•a reminder that if you play Darklands, head to our forums to find more players!
•...and anything else you can expect from us over the next few months.

Here we go...

Just the one Fomoraic miniature to show you, but he is awesome...

Yannick Fusier's really stepped up the progress on the Ograx Reivers recently, and whilst he's only doing alternates they still look amazing. Here's Aadolf, the Ograx Reiver Tain, with two clubs instead of great weapon...

Look at the size of those clubs! He should be an August shipment as the shieldwall version is next, and he's going to be so awesome we might explode.

What's Next

Yannick will do Shieldwall Aadolf of course, as well as the fully-armoured Haakon and the Ograx of Baalor; but Bob will be digitally sculpting the rest - Rikkaard in his various guises, and the Mammax...

Automatically Appended Next Post:
We've another Leofwen update for Darklands: Starter Hosts II this week, and she's looking awesome on her Hart!

This week we have:
•sculpt work in progress updates from Jamie Phipps;
•a link to the forums where you can see this project's fulfilment;
•a reminder that if you play Darklands, head to our forums to find more players!
•...and anything else you can expect from us over the next few months.

Here's some...

It's all Anglecynn and it's all Leofwen again... well, Leofwen and her trusty steed!

Jamie's work on Leofwen continues with the Great Hart version...

The first two shots are musculature, to show you how it all works, but the last shot is amazing...

There's still a fair bit to do - the antlers are just placeholders and detailing needs work - but she's definitely getting there!

What's Next?

Jamie will be carrying on with Leofwen, and after her we'll get him to do Annik as he did such a good job on Seza. Bob will be doing Cynemon, Birna and the Wælwulfas at some point soon. I'm very hopeful of bringing this project to a close in the summer (in terms of miniatures sculpted, anyway).

That's yer lot for today...

...but let's have a general overview of what's occurring. I've been pretty quiet because I've been doing lots of 2nd Edition shenanigans, so expect that (along with Savage Hordes) in time for Salute next year.

Next up for me is the Concept Art Book - I'm doing that in July after I come back from my holiday. At the latest this should be ready for Black Friday.

In terms of sculptors, Bob has done Dynwocor Hunters (a new unit!) because they're easy conversions from the current ones and is doing the two Cocwocor from Savage Hordes IV next. The Dynwocor Hunters won't be printed for a while though - they're designed to be a counterpart for the Saethwr when the Brythoniaid get a support host. Then he's doing the Duguth and Duguth Eored... so yes, that's resculpts... along with Timoth... all sculpted digitally. The old Duguth are small and old and tired... as is Tim in real life... ahem. It makes sense to resculpt them on foot if they're going on horses. Then Bob's doing the Leiptrolls... and their "normal" versions, the Hálftrolls... expect fireworks. Well, electric works! After that... the Hydrar unit and Marzaon. That's Mighty Monsters done and dusted. Then new Wælwulfas / Cynemon to finish off Starter Hosts II (at least the Anglecynn). Then Savage Hordes III.

Jamie's carrying on with Leofwen, and after her he's doing Annik from Starter Hosts II and after her probably Birna.

Tim Prow's going to do Charging Tarvax (well, Kanaasck's Herd in the new parlance) along with BLOODTHIRSTY STEAMPUNK CHAINSAW CÆNA for Salute next year.

Allan Carrasco is doing the new Bog Beasts later on this year, and will hopefully do Mekqaano, also for Salute next year.

Yannick Fusier's doing Ogres for the foreseeable! Although he will probably do Oghureach before the Ograx of Baalor.

Valentin Zak is doing Sleanagh Aidan, Sleanagh and Fir Bholg Throwers, along with Crossbow and Slinger Brude.

Stéphane Camosseto is doing Reivers.

Yannick Hennebo is doing the Mammox fittings - the Mammox tower is printed, just about, now we need to send most of it off to Yannick.

Rafael Dioli has just done Thurnaaq... the Aangakoq for Far Thule... he'll be a July release, watch out for a mailshot on the Mammox this week. Rafael will be doing something else from a kickstarter shortly.

In terms of printing, the Holumenn warriors are printed but not yet moulded, so it's Holumenn Bowmen next; Tim's doing the new Agriosavra after that. Then it's Steinn. Then it's Gorgórar and Gorgóraxo - that means Savage Hordes is done in terms of sculpts.

After that it's monsters innit...

from the comments, excellent news about the concept art book as I've been unreasonably excited about it ever since it was offered

Automatically Appended Next Post:
and for the future

Steampunk Cæna was inspired by an episode of Regular Show, where Rigby and Mordecai were chased around by a chainsaw-wielding angry bear.

He's got goggles. He's got a chainsaw. He's CHAINSAW CÆNA!

I have art for him. But not yet for...

Mekqaano, who is indeed a cyber rhino man with a gigantic CANNON!!

Automatically Appended Next Post:
On the miercendise front, once I get back from holiday we should be seeing templates, templates and more templates.

Finally got hold of a sample from the plastics company (Cow Carcass) and it's absolutely fine, so they're currently making those along with the goat and sheep and pig; they'll be here in June. After that it's all the rest, so it won't be long before they're all done guys and gals.

In terms of other things, I should be able to get everything else sorted for this project in July and August, so expect shipments in October. T-shirts, posters - the lot.

Rick :How are we standing with the metal casting?

Mierce Miniatures: Very poor - struggling to find a good metal moulder. It's a very different skill. I have some irons in the fire, however, and I hope to be up and running on that in July. As in, I'm hiring someone to do it...

Mierce Miniatures I should say, a freelance good metal moulder... there's plenty out there, but they usually work for other companies.

Zedmeister Good news. Presumably you've got over the council hurdle?

Mierce Miniatures Yeah, now it's mould-making...

Several more updates today,

We have another update for Darklands: Mighty Monsters, with the completion of the Cowering Fiends of Dis!This week there's:

Let's get sent to Coventry with some...

There's five/six miniatures to show this week, for the Infernii!

Tim Prow's been working hard on the Cowering Fiends of Dis recently, and whilst they're not quite done yet, they're almost there...

As always, we start with the champion of the unit, who is called Kaio...

...missing his lower jaw in this shot (no need to send one to Tim)...

Rubal is the banner bearer of these guys -

- you'll just have to imagine the configuration of shield on back and weapon in right hand, banner in left hand (like the non-armoured version, Drubal).

A warrior of the unit, Acchus is minus his bottom half here...

...and his lower jaw!

Kholko is another member of the unit without his bottom half...

...he's looking good though!

Lucus is not a number, he is a free Fiend.

He's spiky, too!

Ubus is the alternate of the banner bearer.

So these guys are finished now, and should be an October shipment... but we will see.

What's Next?

Just the one Fomoraic miniature to show you, like last time, but he is awesome... so you'll forgive us we're sure.

Yannick Fusier's Shieldwall Aadolf is a cracking example of using as much scrap metal as you can find to make a shield and a weapon at the same time.

[I know I said i'd only show one image, but he's so cool I gave you two]

Absolutely brilliant from Yannick, as always; and he should be an October shipment as we'll be getting him before the units.

Sad that Aadolf is pushed back til October. I swear the original one was supposed to be for June.

To those that missed it, Mierce "Buy one monstrous infantry unit, get one monstrous infantry unit free" offer runs until Monday the 8th of July 2019 at midnight (GMT). Recently expanded to include what looks to be every monstrous infantry of any kind, including 80mm big'uns and heroes and so on.

There were some intimations that the monster BOGO is coming later in the summer as well ...

We've got a bit of an update for Darklands: Savage Hordes III, because Bob is turning his attention to this project now...

This week we have:
•sculpt work in progress updates from Bob Płociennik;
•a link to the forums where you can see this project's fulfilment;
•a reminder that if you play Darklands, head to our forums to find more players!
•...and anything else you can expect from us over the next few months.

Check out these here

One subject, but many miniatures... here's the latest work on some mounted and foot Anglecynn!

That there Bob Płociennik has begun work on the cavalry, starting with Timoth the Smith on horse... and while he was at it, we decided to get him to resculpt Timoth on foot, just because it would be rude not to.

So here's the mounted version...

As we've got more printing to do than a printing house, he'll be way towards the end of the year, if not next year, before we get him into production...

Bob doing Tim (oo-er) means we can do Tim more, if that makes sense: so here's Sweordsman Timoth, with two sweords and with shield, which will be in the same kit (just a left arm swap really).

With two sweords:

Here's the mounted version, with a helmet:

Tim with helmet will be an option for all variants, foot or mounted!

Again, he'll be later on in the year... if not next year.

Yes, Tim's nose actually looks like that. In fact, if anything, we've made his nose smaller than it is in real life (leaving aside any snide remarks about scale): Tim has won the Largest Nostrils at Mierce competition for ten years running. True Fact.

What's Next?

Bob will be doing the Duguth Ēored, which should look bloody awesome if Timoth is anything to go by, as well as Culcca and Hedroc... although we may give Rafael Dioli Hedroc on his Hound-Horse. As for the rest... well, we'll probably get Bob to do it all!

We have some progress on the stupendous Maatmäg with War Tower for you: the test assembly run is complete, which has flagged up a few issues that we'll have to correct. Especially if the driver needs his head!

We're still on course to start shipping the big guy in August though!
