Oh! You made the TF bases? Nice work, I use them for most of my one-off 3D prints that don't have any set gaming purpose. Pity that Mierce has left you in the dark as they reorient the business around 3D printing. Which currently involves feuding with Patreon and being disappointed that the Jute Frontier hasn't blown up with us active patrons
What does that mean (the feuding/disappointment)?

He's been having issues with how pateron sets up billing cycles and doesn't let you adjust them unless you close your patron and create a new one. So I kind of understand that part of it.

For some reason I had my 2nd Ed Rulebook sent to my parents in the UK rather than here Anyway, finally picked it up on holiday.
I'd just used a bunch of Mierce modes to make an army to persuade Mantic to launch a new KoW army list and had great fun working with the Mierce models I really wanted to love the rulebook, but oh man, the game still feels impenetrable.

It's not how I imagined the aesthetic of the game, although that's probably ignorance on my behalf. I'd have been tempted by the river if it weren't so straight and angular. I hope that it does well, but it isn't for me.

...Yeah this was a bit of a surprise.
TBF this is specific to the Jutes, which really are all supernatural, all the time in their whole aesthetic; skeletons, wight-ey things, zombies (coming next year I think), giant bats etc.
They don't so much have the bog standard human backbone that most of the factions do have, so I guess it's fair to be doing somewhat more high fantasy terrain for them.
And yeah, a 30degree turn or a meandering section for the river would for sure be nice.

the not- GW stuff is BaneLegions.
Templar's Forge is their brand for accessories; templates, bases and such so far but most if not all of it pretty Darklands specific.
Baragash wrote:I don't have any games those would really suit right now, which is a shame.
I don't even play the system myself but I kinda feel it seems almost tailored towards Warcry; the floating platforms look a lot like they'd stand in very well for the Endor-like treetop tethered platform terrain a couple WC starters ago, IIRC.

Thanks. I made those for years. Maybe not a zillion but a fair number.
Just odd they went silent and now I understand why. They are simply going to a print on demand system.
Oh well, time to write this off and move on.
First of all, sorry to see your frustration. Second, I don't get the issue since I can confirm the Mierce Tribe is NOT including files for bases so far.
I'm just seeing now that you provided the Templar's Forge bases. They are the exact dimensions I'm looking for now that I have a 3D printer. The 25mm inset size is awesome: if I slot a 25mm printed base into the 30mm Templar's Forge base's inset it works perfectly and just makes the characters look atmospheric while allowing the REAL base to define the mini on a tabletop. I have been looking like crazy for anyone that has the same dimensions as the TF ones but without the facing pips.
Are there any such bases that you provide to any companies? Most have rounded edges and are too shallow, so they don't work. It looks like Wyrd Minis had something like this for Malifaux but they are out of print in 30mm. And for some reason Green Stuff World does something similar for every size EXCEPT 30mm! So many "close but no cigar" solutions I'm running into.

No, I haven't tried them but they seem like a potential PITA.
My take on basing: I like the black hard plastic bases to be as generic as possible, as they are the 'frame' for the mini as a gamepiece. I used to like the smaller slottabases because I came up with GW, but my fave bases now for heroic scale humans are the 30mm ones from Flying Frog (Shadows of Brimstone corrupted my brain!)
My least favorite bases funnily enough are the more subtle ones like the flat dime-size ones from games like Kings of War and Frostgrave. I think because I like the minis to look taller and more impressive. Again it's all psychology, because those kind of bases are great if you wanted the characters to look more realistic and integrated with the environment.
Anyways, now that I'm having fun with 3D printing, the plethora of potential bases messes with my OCD because many of them look great, but I don't want to all of a sudden have a slew of various sizes and shapes floating around, LOL. So I was printing some Bestiarum minis out with their cool 25mm bases and realized that they slotted perfectly into the Templar's Forge 30mm base, sticking up just a little bit. This was a win/win because now the figures interact size-wize with everything else I've been using. And the printed bases just look like the usual inserts that have always been out there like the one below. This solution also works with scaling, because a Large figure from Bestiarum can be printed into a 30mm base that slots into a Templar's Forge 40mm, etc. The biggest problem now is rarity, especially if Rob Lane hasn't ordered more. TF are not the cheapest bases either, so I'd prefer to reserve them for Darklands, especially because they have the facing pips.
So that's why I'm looking for a future-proof source for inset bases. I've tried grabbing cheap ones from China but the rounded lips leave too small an inset size and they are too shallow as well.

If you have a 3d printer and you like the mierce bases, I think it's relatively simple (as in ~10min using windows 3d builder) to knock up a version of their printable bases without the bumps.
Not allowed to do it for you, because, well, the license and all - but just clip off a segment without a bump, and flip/rotate it into the place of a segment with bump you've just removed.
Would also conveniently scale to all other sizes

Sadly the patreon battlehosts are ending this month. Rob's announcement on the platform;
Mierce Miniatures
Patreon Will End
This is the last battle host to be offered on patreon.
(TL;DR at the bottom)
To expand: I have considered ending the digital side of things completely over the past few months, for a number of reasons. I'm still not 100% convinced it's the best thing for Mierce - or for Darklands - especially with the amount of people pirating these files.
I've been very disappointed by the amount of subscribers we've garnered (both here and on MMF), as well as the support offered by MMF themselves; to be frank, it's a heck of a lot of work for not a great return, and it has definitely hurt the sales of our physical miniatures. I did hope that the loyalty rewards would keep people's interest, and the monthly beast for £1 would generate more interest, but that hasn't happened at all.
How other companies do it I do not know - although bear in mind if we had 1,000+ subscribers, it wouldn't really matter - but we have been charging too little for each month's battle host. While we were using existing miniatures it wasn't so bad, but with existing miniatures pretty much all out there now, I don't believe we are getting enough of a return to justify what we are giving you, especially when factoring in the costs of new sculpts. With patreon and MMF not allowing us to change tier prices easily (and the amount they charge us for each sale), and the amount of work it takes to actually get the files to you, it simply can't continue as it is.
We could of course stop producing digital files for customers completely, and that has its attractions for me, but I'm not sure that's the best way to go yet for you avid Darklands printing fans.
If I want to keep the digital side of things going, I either have to increase the prices of the tiers or reduce the amount of miniatures you get each month; and while I don't really want to do the latter for the hosts, I will remove the BEASTMASTER and SELL-SWORD tiers. The monthly beast hasn't garnered anywhere near enough interest.
So, I'm going to increase the price of the MIERCENARY tier (the WARLORD tier will remain the same), but I'm shifting things from patreon and probably MMF tribes (I haven't made my final decision on that yet) to the new webstore.
The store.mierce-miniatures.com's functionality is, frankly, amazing: shopify do some great things, and I'd be daft not to take advantage of them. I can do subscriptions there, you see, as well as blog posts like this, and - crucially - I can add digital files seamlessly. Another advantage is that the store price is what you pay - there's no extra tax on top.
I'll be setting it all up in August, and I will of course ensure you guys know all about it here, but please note - before the end of August this patreon page will close and you will have to subscribe on our new webstore to continue getting the files.
I am unsure yet what I will do with MMF; it may be that I remove tribes completely, remove all the files from there and only sell the digital files on our webstore. But I haven't made a final decision on that yet. Again, altering tier prices over there is difficult - I have to unpublish tiers and so forth, and get people to resubscribe.
I do hope you all understand why I'm making this decision; it's not something I've come to overnight. I simply want to ensure Mierce can produce miniatures in the future.
TL;DR
In summary:
I'm closing this patreon at the end of August
The new webstore will offer a subscription for our MIERCENARY tier for £19.99 in September
There won't be an early bird tier
Loyalty scheme will continue from where it leaves off if you continue your subscription on the new webstore
The WARLORD tier (for physical miniatures) will stay at £99.99
The new webstore will offer our digital files

Sad to hear for those using the digital stuff
(although not terribly surprising as even with the best of intentions gamers tend to share with mates, and those mates tend to share etc, even without the suspicion that some of the more organised pirates will probably be subscribing to the better STL producers anyway)

Use it or loose it warning
This is it, guys and gals - the LAST EVER sale on our old webstore, mierce-miniatures.com (the new one is at store.mierce-miniatures.com).
We're sending this as we know many of you no longer subscribe to our mailshots, but it's important as it benefits you. You see, if you've ever ordered from the old webstore, you've had £10 Moneyback - plus £1 per order you've made in that time - added to your account!
Your voucher code is:
GOODBYE-OLD-FRIEND
As well as that, we've added a 50% off EVERYTHING* deal on our old webstore!
What's the deal?
We have a new webstore of course - store.mierce-miniatures.com - but we want to give thanks to the old webstore, mierce-miniatures.com, that has given us so much... erm... pleasure? over the years, as well as all of you, our valued Miercenaries!
So, anybody who has ordered from the old webstore since the start of 2012 has had £10 (plus £1 per order you've made) as Moneyback to spend on our old webstore - until midnight (GMT) on Tuesday, the 1st of October 2024.
As well as that, as a last booming celebration of the old workhorse we've given you a lovely 50% off* (*except grey wulf resin items, which are at 25% off) everything on there (AND WE MEAN EVERYTHING)!
How do I use the voucher?
Your 50% off* UK RRP discount voucher ends on Tuesday the 1st of October 2024 at midnight (GMT)!
The voucher will work on all the items within our old webstore!
Your voucher code is: GOODBYE-OLD-FRIEND
To use this voucher simply register on the webstore, mierce-miniatures.com (if you haven't already), copy and paste the voucher code into the Voucher field in your basket when you have selected the items you want, press 'REDEEM', and the webstore will do the rest. You are not limited to one purchase and, indeed, we would ask you to recommend us to your friends with this voucher!
How do I use Moneyback?
It couldn't be simpler to use moneyback you have earned - the first page of the basket will show any moneyback you have available, and all you have to do is indicate the amount you wish to use. If you don't want to use any moneyback with an order, simply uncheck the box next to the moneyback line and it will be removed from your basket!
Includes hosts, books, posters and paints!
Your 50% off voucher will work on all the hosts, books, posters and Miercendise - as well as Vallejo paints! - on the webstore. Go for it!
Last Sale Ever!
This is absolutely the last ever sale we'll ever do on the old webstore; it's time to retire the blessed old thing. It will still be up to view your old orders, but we'll likely turn off the payment system in the next month or so; so if you'd like your remaining Moneyback to be transferred to the new webstore once you've used it, let us know and we'll do the rest.
Please be patient
Please bear in mind that promotions like this quickly strip the stock that we hold, so we do ask that you remain patient while we sort your order out. We can never tell, really, which miniatures are popular from one promotion to the next!
so if you've been a regular Mierce shopper in the past you may have a significant amount of money back to spend (I certainly did) so don't miss out

If you go for resin stuff that's in stock it should be quick, If you go for 3d printed Graywulf stuff it's a bit slower as at least some of it will be printed to order (it was about a month for me, but there was also some outstanding KS stuff sent in the same package that clearly slowed things down) but if you've got a bunch of moneyback sitting you might as well spend it, at worst you'll only be out the postage

Question for anyone who has both 3D printed and received Grey Wulf minis... Do you have a favorite resin or recommended recipe that is similar to the Grey Wulf recipe?
I haven't used anything that flexible before, so I run into trouble on the human troops as their spears and swords sometimes break with more brittle resins.
At the same time, I've been hesitant to try flexible resins because I worry they won't hold fine detail well (I only have one printer which hurts experimentation). Rob's recipe does look pretty darn good though and feels sturdy to the touch.

Most people mix standard and ABSlike in a ratio between 9:1 and 3:1.

I just started using resins made for tabletop gaming. They're durable, flexible and hold great detail but like $60/L though. Worth it in my opinion.
I use Phrozen RPG.
