This is my typical Nob squad.
7x Nobz, 1x Painboy
3x Power Klaws, 3x Big Choppa, 2x Kombi-Skorcha, 3x Kombi-Rokkit, 1x TL Shoota, 1x Choppa and Slugga
3x Ammo Runt, 1x Bosspole, Waaagh! Banner
I can't decide on 'Eavy Armour or Cybork Bodies, and I want to model them whichever way I go.
They are often in a squad with a KFF Big Mek, but not always. They are often in 4+ cover to shooting, but not always. 5++ helps against Power Weapons and Monstrous Creatures. 4+ helps against everything else, including falling out of the Trukk (if they even take wounds on that, I would have to look it up) or Battlewagon. Cybork Bodies can go on the Painboy, which is probably a #1 reason to take it.
I will probably go with Cybork for just that reason, I think. Thing is it makes the KFF Big Mek kind of pointless.

Another way to look at it is that they can operate outside of it's influence safely.
I've been running Eavy Armour but I can see the benefits of cybork bodies. It protects against the things nobs really, really hate- low AP S8+ stuff. Like battlecannons, and meltas and whatnot.
I mostly didn't want the bother of converting cybork bodies on all my fellas.

I go with cybork bodies all the way, unless I'm playing against infantry-based IG or Guardian spam Eldar (i.e. non-existant armies.)

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made. |

Since you have FNP from the painboy I say Cybork.

That makes sense, doesn't it.
'Eavy Armour: 50%
'Eavy Armour + FNP: 75%
Cybork: 33%
Cybork + FNP: 66.7%
So almost as good against regular attacks, but they also get a save against Power Weapons, Plasma, etc, etc. Even S8 armour piercing. The only thing is if the KFF is in with them, although it is not like it makes much of a difference. I like the fact that the Painboy can take it as well.

I think I will model them each with a bit of 'Eavy and a bit of Cybork and then I will have one super Cybork and one super 'Eavy that will carry the Waaagh! Banner depending on what I go with that game. They are supposed to be Bad Moons anyway, give 'em the good stuff.

the other cool way to spend 40 points is to buy a nob biker...well worth it for the speed, the free guns and cover save, and the awesome coolness of it all. just wait for the new FW models....yum

If it would have to be choice between the two, I'd recommend Cybork Bodies. It's the one item you'd at least get a save with in assault no matter what hits you. It doesn't make the KFF pointless as the KFF won't help in assault which is where the Nobz really earn their keep.

No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby. |

good points made so far...
The answer to this question might be helpful to you.
Would you rather your Nobs have limited protection against power weapon wielding close combat units and anti-tank weapons? Or would you rather have them be extraordinarily good against regular close combat attacks, rapid fire weapons, and flamers?
The second option leaves more space for generalship. You can avoid the doomed howling banshee unit/carnifex/leman russ. Then you can match the nobs up with the enemy troops where they are shockingly good.
However, taking the more conservative cybork bodies protects you from the enemies generalship. If he manages to get the 'problem' weapons on your nobs, you can spoil a third of them, which might buy you the time you need to get back on track.
I voted for cybork btw... I always assume my opponent is good at 40k.
