As I was looking through the 'skirmish games' forum, I came across this link.

http://www.thewarstore.com/IMEXPlatformerHexagon.html

These look great for Necromunda! Has anyone tried them, and care to comment?
And do any of you know a site I can pick these up from, besides the warstore?
I prefer to order from an European site, but I don't know if this is at all possible.

I've used many of their kits and they're great. I tend to actually glue all the pieces together, as they tend to be a little (read, completely) rickety if I just slap 'em together, but they take paint well and work great as terrain, fodder for bases, conversion material for vehicles, etc. (I think Tazok did a drop pod made out of these guys?)

I imagine Battlefield Berlin will have them, but haven't tried (they seem to have everything).

Guinness: for those who are men of the cloth and football fans, but not necessarily in that order.

I think the lesson here is the best way to enjoy GW's games is to not use any of their rules.--Crimson Devil

I've got several of the Hexagon AND platformer sets (including the power plant AND chemical plant kits), and have found them a nice variation from the spikes and skulls GW CoD buildings.

I also tend to glue the pieces together to add stability to them. They add a nice modularity to terrain, and can easily be used to make up settlements, comm towers, landing platforms, etc.

Adrift within the vortex of my imagination.

I did not like Hexagoner.

But platformer makes up a nice refinery piece for games, especially if you add the chemical plant set.

A set does not go far though, you get what looks like plenty of girders but when you start making nice looking columns they get eaten up quickly.

Be prepared to need to buy more sets than it looks.

n'oublie jamais - It appears I now have to highlight this again.

Here's an article of Tazok's stuff.

I found them too small for Necromunda. My mate had a set or two, and it took ages to put it together (Though we might both be a bit spazzy).

Plastic in the ones he had was....wangy. Far too rubbery for my tastes, and overall, I really wasn't that impressed with them in the end.

The problem with the Platformer sets is that the supports are too thin. Making towering
structures isn't really an option as it's annoying to pull off, and their sample structure
doesn't really work for Necromunda (too claustrophobic).

As Tazok demonstrates, the Hexagoner sets can be used to create large pillars and platforms,
but if you read the article you'll see what it took for him to create this monstrosity.

Here is some examples of what I did with the different sets...

3 level platform using necro bulkheads and Hexagon pieces

Fuel Depot using Platformer and power plant pieces (look close the base is made from a old Star wars Revell set)

Using Hexagon pieces and basing off terrain piece from Necromunda

Walkway using Syberclicks pieces and a platform using a platformer pieces :S

Hope this helps you with ideas on how to use them... just wish I was as good of painter as I am a builder..

I bought a bunch to make necromunda catwalks. I had to reinforce them with plasticard, but they work well enough I guess...

My apologies for not replying for a while, some times you forget to subscribe to a thread, and then you've done it.

Great replies people, the majority seems to think that these kits are worth getting, though the platformer sets are a bit
weaker that the hexagoner sets. I'll be ordering a hexagoner set from Battlefield Berlin in a few days, and I'll be sure
to toss up my opinions on it as well, once I've tried it out.

@Genoside07; those things look great. Were there any problems integrating the old Necromunda bulkheads with the
other kits? To me it seems like they've just been glued on, but I might be wrong. And if you remember, could you give
me an estimate on how many sets you used for each of these constructions? Would be great to have an estimate of
how many kits I'd eventually need.

@Mad Dok; too small? Care to elaborate on that? From what I've seen the scale seems to be spot on, though I haven't
seen them in RL. Is this along the lines of them being too 'claustrophobic?'

@malfred: that's a great article you linked. Thanks!

btw: Tazok bought lots and lots of boxes. I believe it was to 19 to create most of that table.

Also, if you post in a thread, you're subscribed to it. At least that's how it was.

One thing I've found with the hexagon sets is to use the joiners with a spare clip on them (so if you're joining two walls to make a corner, use the 't' connectors) if you're building anything taller than 4". I've got hexagonal towers going up to about 12", all have a rod on the outside corner running the height to help stiffen it.

You can then clip some rod into this spare clip and add some resilience to the structure. I use steel rod for mine, and they don't fall apart (but the bits are also glued in, for extra rigidity).

Yeah, I'm stupid about terrain, here's a look at some of my Imex (tehnolog) terrain on the board I'm currently almost finished with.

The funky communications array at the bottom right is from tehnolog (Imex) and so are parts of that industrial platform (chemical plant). The industrial pieces that are painted partially green are armorcast and then's zuzzy terrain, GW craters, etc.

It's a standard four by six table, but I threw the lonely marine on their for a sense of scale (he's about to get slaughtered by the mega-armored warboss just barely in the picture).

I bought I know at least 3 boxes of each...(larger sets) but didnt keep track, if you need better pictures of
something just shoot me a pm and I will see what I can do...As for the GW bulk heads all I had to do is clip
out the ridges bumps inside them so the imex pieces could slide in.

I don't really like the platformer/hexagon sets but I love their gothic buildings.
