Sorry if I am just the latest in a long line to ask this question. Has anyone found a fifth edition patch for army builder III? This new Space Marine codex has realy changed things.

Pthh, AB is a waist of money. your better off writing it up your self.

And more then likely they wont have the update for at least a few more weeks.

The AB people and GW have a bit of an understanding:
AB doesn't release an official codex update until it has been out for 30 days - and GW doesn't sue them.

Be patient, grasshopper.

It's not so much the math, it's the quickly and easily being able to swap out units and move stuff around.

I agree. AB is a great tool Far better than manual list building. It makes quick comparisons and minor swaps simplicity.
As far as the SM codex update... Forge them (for now). It'd be nice to see a 5th edition update. It's been more than 30 days, there!

That's one mans opinion. I guess.

AB is freekin awesome. Never had a problem with it.

I bought IAL. A complete counter intuitive, too expensive piece of garbage. I tossed both CDs in the trash because I didn't want to sell them. UNG.

Yeah, it was so awesome, I could buy it twice to get all the lists they rarely updated!

Have both. Usually use whichever is updated first. But lo, neither has been updated for the new SM codex. I'm pretty sure AB3 will be updated before IAL. When was the last IAL updade? On the old site, that is. And that update was for the last SM codex with all its divergences and all that marlarky.

Policy for updates is one month after the last general release of a codex. Since Codex Space Marines was officially released October 4th, the earliest you will see the datafiles is November 4th.

The files are in the process of being updated to 5th edition as well, but due to some ISP problems with the lead maintainer, that is currently behind schedule.

Actually I use AB for everything, but for my nids I usually rebuild my list just with a web editor using tables.. because I like to have all the info there like what each gun will do for each bug so I don't have to start looking at the creature's stats to figure out the str or # of shots and all that stuff.

A guy in my group also photocopies the stats and apoc datasheets he needs for each game so he doesn't have to lug all those books around all the time.. I might try that too.

Anyway hopefully they'll get the 5th edition updates going soon.

I love AB. I don't think it's a matter of getting sued, I think it's more a matter of putting all that info in, and making sure everything works is hard work. The AB 40K Maintainers are all volunteers, with jobs, girlfriends, games, etc that they also want to fit into busy lives.

The age of man is over; the time of the Ork has come.

There not Volunteers, there getting paid to do it, that's why it cost you 40$ to get it. and it is a very simple program with very little "work" needed to update, the only reason it takes a month is because they don't want to get sued as stated before.

Try again JokerGod. The guy that wrote the software gets your money. The collection of guys that write the AB files for specific games are all volunteers. The company cannot create a product for a specific game system. That is a violation of their IP. Instead, an "open" system is created, and people are able to write their own game systems into it - as volunteers. I used to be one a long time ago. It is these volunteers that do not want to be sued.

Then there a group of morons and getting ripped off, the software is basic first year programing that any one with a few hours to kill could write. (With the right background of course)

When I first started playing D&D at 10 years old, my DM at the time went into great detail during an early dungeon describing a rancid and putrid smell. It turned out that I was smelling troll.

I'm beginning to smell that odor again.

Well, time to get to it, JokerGod, if it's so dang easy!

Apparently you don't understand the concept of charity, or of Intellectual Property. The people making the lists HAVE to volunteer to get the AB army files made, because they can't have any money transfer to them because they don't own the property they are writing the Army files for. They do it out of charity, because the list makers want the files and they want others to have them as well.
