Just a reminder, I think. The rulebook covers it reasonably clearly. In the paragraph about moving it says:

In the Movement phase when they arrive, these units may not move any further, other than to disembark from a deep striking transport vehicle.

So we can see that units that arrive inside a deep striking transport vehicle are themselves considered to be deep striking. In the paragraph on assaulting, the same subject is used: "these units".
