It seems everytime I come on these forums I always see posts like: Can I have Chaos< Tau, Nids, Orks, Necrons, etc> and I just want to ask why is everyone so obsessed with Chaos? Like I mean sure they are kinda cool but that people like an army of mutants and demons just conquering the galaxy? it just puzzles me. Some people even say that the Dark Eldar should be scrapped for like a Chaos Eldar and I am like what?

I mean Chaos Space marines should really be the only Chaos army out there (or like a Chaos guard and a cult army I suppose if you wanted) but I mean whats with all the love for Chaos things, am I missing something? To me it seems like just as many people are obsessed with Chaos stuff as they are with SM stuff both of which seem soo plain to me.

Here is my question then, what makes Chaos so great?

I want to start collecting a dark eldar army... so whats this you say about scrapping dark eldar?

And I don't know what makes chaos so great, but I prefer alot of other races for their fluff and their figures. You could pose the same question about the orks, why alot of people seem to like them, and I would say because they are AWESOME!!! So Is'pose thats a possible answer from Chaos collectors...

Well I am considering on starting a DE but I want to wait untill their new codex comes out to make that call. I enjoy most of their look except for the warriors.

Fluff wise I think they should stay because they bring a whole new side of things. Sure they aren't a major army or power but thats not what they want to be, they are Raiders and Torturers. The potential to have different themes (pirate, commoragh overlord, wych cult, slavers etc!) is exiciting for thinkers and more importantly they have truly evil leaders that don't bow down to Chaos Gods and are cunning more then power hungry. I just like the dark nature of them.

So I think if Games Workshop scrap DE, they will just prove to me that they really only care about SM, IG, Eldar, Orks, Tau, Chaos(debatable), and Tyranids. Not supporting armies that many like but aren't main just takes away the creativity and variety of the game and come on, how expensive is it to make penny sprues?

Yeah, I wanna wait for the new codex and give that a read before I start. But the fluff is the main reason I want Dark Eldar. I can't imagine GW scrapping them, and if they did, I'd be angry...

I can, chaos dwarfs, squats, They really are that heartless sometimes.

First, for the record, I dont play chaos.

Chaos army are great to model unique characters. It must be really cool to go buy: a box of eldar warrior, a box of undead, a spruce of chaos and a pack of green stuff and create a cool new look for your army: chaos eldar.

If you do the same with most other army, it will just look silly.

Maybe these forums got so much "Chaos-love" because
the US has more Chaos-players? (or is the Eye of Terror?).

Could be also the fact of loads of Imperial fluff vs chaos as sidenote.

Lol Maybe. I remember someone on here said that "everyones 40k is different" and I tend to agree with that. Like maybe alot of people see chaos as a corrupting force. But I like to see Chaos as Dark, Cold and spooky. More like a brooding evil that would love nothing more then frighten someone just before they slice them up, like some sort of terror. I just find it hard to see something that is essentially a cult of madmen with demons as cool but yeah maybe thats just me.

hell i got no idea,i think its cause of the different armies you can go for,a heavy footsogging force,a undivied force,a world eaters,there's just so many options,TBH i just my deathguard.

Why? Because Chaos is totally metal and awesome, I mean think about it...they're Space Marines...with horns, what's NOT to find awesome?

Besides the badguys are always cooler than the goodguys, it's like a law or something.

i play chaos because they are fething evil. i want to carve out a bloody empire, raping, pillaging and conquering all i see. i want to erect temples miles tall on the blood and bones of millions of slaves. i want my name to be spoken in hushed tones for fear of my wrath. i want to slaughter countless mighty warriors so that i may take on the demonic mantle and immortality i so rightly deserve. and i would rather be tured into a mewling spawn, and see all my conquests and glory smashed to ruin, that serve an uncaring, apothetic corpse on a seat. my gods listen to me and promise me the galaxy. what has your corpse ever done for you?
