Hi guys, I have 2 questions regarding Demons and Chaos Marines in a game of Apoc. It's more of a "how do you feel about it" kinda question than a real rules-question.
The Apocalypse book as well as Imperial Armor: Apocalypse are written without the Demon Codex in mind, which brings up 2 questions.
1. The warp rift. In 40k Apocalypse the rules for the warprift say that it can be used for Lesser and not-so-Lesser Demons to come in as one big pile, but If I play Apocalypse I don't wanna use the CSM demons, but the real Codex: Demons demons (that sounded stupid ). Wouldn't it make much more sense if the portal could be used by "real" demons and not the puny little lesser demons from the Spikey Marines 'Dex?
2. Same goes for the IA: Apocalypse rules regarding the greater demon lords. If there is a full scale Chaos Invasion, why should they bother with possesing a human instead of just using the normal Demon rules to shock on the battlefield?

I voted yes, because it would be cool to see. However, you'd have to introduce a few extra restrictions. The original Rift was balanced in that the Daemons that came out could only ever move 6" per turn and assault 6". With C:CD units coming out, their range of effectiveness increases dramatically. So sit down with your gaming group and discuss how to do it. Regarding the Daemon Lords, that's not an issue. According to the Forgeworld website, you can use the Daemon lords in a Daemons army without having to possess a model and just deep striking like a normal greater daemon.

It's Apocalypse. Why not?
Both players/sides should discuss it and take into account the changes that might happen using new demons vs generic. If it screws the game, don't use it. If it's more fun, go for it.

....and lo!.....The Age of Sigmar came to an end when Saint Veetock and his hamster legions smote the false Sigmar and destroyed the bubbleverse and lead the true believers back to the Old World.

One thing i find quite dumb about generic daemons is that they cost only 3 points less than bloodletters. I mean, what the hell? 3 points gets them a 3+ save and a POWER WEAPON? They even come in practically the same way bloodletters do. Just what were they on when they made generic daemons?

Beeing able to assault after a deep strike that never scatter is a powerful thing. CSM daemons are often worth their points. They are also from two wholly different armies.
Bloodletters don't have 3+ armour BTW.

In one game turn an Imperial guardsman can move 6", kill a few guys with his flamer, assault 6", kill two more guys with his bayonet, flee 12", regroup when assaulted, react 6", kill one more guy with his bayonet and then flee another 12".
So in one game turn an Imperial guardsman can move 42" and kill more than 5 people. At the same time a Chimera at top speed on a road can move 18"... |

Apples and oranges...
lesser demons can deep strike scatter free from an icon and charge the second they land. Lesser demons are also in an army with lash of submission, obliterators, and land raiders. You just can't pull a unit out of the context of its codex, and compare it to another unit.
I suppose you can. You just won't get any useful data from such a comparison.
the 3+ armor save thing has been mentioned.
I voted 'no' CSM and CD are totally different armies, their datasheets are not designed to be interactive with each other. Most Important Rule notwithstanding. screwing around with who can use what datasheets when opens the door to abuse.

If you can get your opponent to agree that it would be cool, more power to you.
If not, don't sweat it.
