Now I will be one of the first people to tell you of my dislike for these guys but since I got like 600 pts worth in the box set I my as well make a small 1000 point army out of it (for occasional play and so someone who hasnt't played the game before can face my Orks). I want to give them fluff (like my Orks) so I am looking for any cool suggestions. I want them to focus more on a military aspect then religious aspect. I also want them to have a planet of their own they defend and such, Haven't figured a name out for it yet though . The Colour scheme I want them to have is Black Armour with Lightblue Highlights and red eyes. Anyways any fluff suggestions you guys can give me would be useful, thx!

Why is coming up with Marine Chapters so hard?

Took me a week to finally figure out a name for part of my Crusading Force - the Iron Knights. I check every source I can form the Insignium Astartes to Wiki-Canon listings and find not a single reference to them. Then I open up the 5th Ed rulebook looking for something else and BANG, there's the Iron Knights with their homeworld North-West of the Eye of Terror.

Damn it...

Took me an Age to come up with Night Eaters and i'm not 100% happy with it (Sounds like Night Heaters, which is a little less scary :p)

You could give them a preferred enemy (prob Orks) as a starting point. Was there original planet stolen in a Waaagh? Do they admire the Ork spirit as much as they hate the Ork flesh? Have they fought against (or alongside) other Xenos? Do they have a touch of taint in their Gene Seed? A little too much disrepect for the Imperium pen pushers or are they loyal to the point of ridicule? Do they have a Space Marine enemy Chapter? Do they think fighting at a distance is cowardly or sensible?

Answer these questions and you are half way there.

As far as developing fluff for your chapter, the best resource that I've found anywhere is a thread over at B&C that tries to steer people away from some potential pitfalls in chapter development as well as giving the process some structure
