Never actually happened.. but I was wondering if you have a immobilised useless vehicle quite close to enemy figures can you ram it with another one of your own vehicles to try and explode it? Or attack it with antiarmour weaponry?

No, you cannot Tank Shock your own vehicles. Page 68 and 69 make this clear.

No, you cannot shoot at your own units. Page 15 makes this VERY clear...

sigh, no place for the imaginative and brutal commander in the dark future.

... if i have a vehical near the enemy and it isn't a reck then its still good ... no enemy can come with in 1" unless they want to assault it it... a unit of troop could hide in a transport (any armour value is better then troop saves) (note they'd still be scoring) ... i think this is far more usefull then any possible damage you might get from rolling an explode ... and if you could ram it you're good tank might die as well

Would be hilarious though, too bad.

you would see orks doing this alot if possible, kamakazi a basic trukk at a unit, then ram it with a wagon XD

It's why I dont think it is a good idea for Commisars to lead tank squads.

"Commissar Command has ordered a general withdrawal from the area"

" Ready the battlecannon on my mark , and fire on my command , target the cordinates M56 M34"

"Sir, that is our command bunker"

" ARe you questioning a superior officer?"

KABLAMMM

" Second Gunner target on these coordinates"

"Yes, Sir"

If I lose it is because I had bad luck, if you win it is because you cheated.

GW missed a great opportunity for organic fratricide rules when they made intervening troops confer a 4+ cover save.

In the future, I hope some army or even unit exists that can ignore the targeting friendlies (or being targeted by friendlies) rule. Would be neat to allow something like dispensible Scarabs (or Snotlings, Gretchin, etc) to tarpit a unit and then be allowed to fire on the melee. It always seemed like a rule that was kind of at odds with the background material for many armies.

I think that'll be a likely as the return of Human Bombs. Seriously, Space Marines don't even get the Litany of Hate anymore. It's just "Litanies of Battle". It's bad enough that Warhammer 40k already resembles a GI Joe battle, but when they tone down the fascism you know they aren't going to encourage friendly fire for entertainment purposes.

This actually happened in my last game of 40k. My opponent was playing Orks, with 2 Looted Vehicles (with boomguns).

On his first turn, one Looted Vehicle got a "hit the wrong button, zoom forward 12 inches" result, which moved it to a spot about 9 inches in front of his other Looted Vehicle (incidentally blocking the LOS of the second vehicle). On his second turn, it was his *second* Looted Vehicle that hit the wrong button: so it zoomed forward 12 inches, which resulted in it ramming the first one! 8 inches (Str 2) + 1 for AV11 +1 for "tank" = S4 hit on AV10. Took the boomgun right off, heh.

I guess there is no way to ram your own vehicles *intentionally*, but there doesn't seem to be anything stopping Orks from doing it by accident...

Yeah, I won that game.

Didn't you know? Orks invented bumper cars back in the 1900's, on a planet called Arth IIRC, or was it Earth? Eath?
Ah well, it was some ole crappy back water planet is all I remember.

I think there's an Ork Apocalypse formation involving trukks that can bump each other around.

As an American, if I'm simulating friendly fire in 40k, does that mean my intervening squads need to be British / Australian?

I'll tell you exactly why you'd want to.

lets say you have a fast skimmer with assault troops inside. and you need to assault a an enamy 24" away.
By raw if a transport initiates a ram and dies the troops simply take a couple armor saves, pinning test then may continue there turn counting as moved.

So you have a way to disembark after moving over 12" asuming you can make sure your tank dies. And if the only other vehicle in the area you want to deliver your squad then you will want ot ram your own vehicle.

Not saying you can but just offering a reason as to why it would be wanted.
