I couldn't find this by way of search -fu so if I've committed threadcromancy I apologize.

I'm starting VC and I just picked up the Konrad mini because the mini has a certain brutal charm (although I'll probably just use him for a regular vampire) and wanted to find out a good way of doing blood spatter (think CSI). I previously used an old tooth brush and red ink on my Death Company and it worked pretty well But I thought I would pick everyone's brain to see if there was a better way.

On a side note' what does everyone think of the spiky crest thingy that attaches to the back of the armor- cool or goofy looking?

Thanks in advance.

If you want it to look fresh I'd do red gore highlighted with blood red.

For old/dried chestnut ink does the job nicely.

The crest I didn't like, but its grown on me (not literally, of course )

Have you thought about the Axis of Evil pension scheme?

I was wondering the same thing not so long ago and found some stuff on the net, cant remember where.

Basically, use an old valejo paint bottle (or something similar) which is empty and squirt the paint on, masking areas you don't want the splatter. I found my own attempts flicking a brush failed miserably and the paint needed to be too thick or it didn't work. Have to say I didn't try your tooth brush idea though, and id imagine the stronger bristles would work better than what I was working with.

This is one of misula 's models he painted, that has to be the best blood spatter ive seen, it might be worth asking him how he did it.

Suffused with the dying memories of Sanguinus, the warriors of the Death Company seek only one thing: death in battle fighting against the enemies of the Emperor.

try an old salt or vinegar shaker or just load an ordinary brush with a mid consistency colour.
