Subject: Tamiya Epoxy Putties vs. Green Stuff/Brown Stuff

Since I've been doing a lot more converting recently, I've found my tape of green stuff and brown stuff rapidly becoming shorter and shorter. A trip to E-bay to see how much the 'stuff costs in comparison to my FLGS's led me to a variety of Tamiya Epoxies available at a considerably reduced price. The question is, how do they compare?
There's at least two varieties: fast setting or "Quick-type", and "Smooth Surface". Has anyone used these and know how they hold up against Green Stuff or Brown Stuff?

I'm not sure I have no experience. But I found a lot of very cheap green stuff on ebay, like cheap enough to not even bother looking for a cheaper alternative.

I've only ever used Squadron green or kneadatite (GS). SG can be thinned with liquid poly (jar) and pretty much painted onto a surface for filling airbubbles in resin or small gaps in models. GS is for the larger gaps or for adding some detail.
I know of Tamiya putties (they are available in my local modelshop) but I've never used them.

I use Tamiya Polyester putty (green, comes in something like a toothpaste tube).
It is not a substitute for green stuff if you want to sculpt, but in my opinion it's far better than green stuff if you want to fill gaps. It dries to a consistency that is a bit more brittle but it sands far easier.
On the down side, it smells like the devil's chemical plant and for some reason the cap to the big tube keeps getting sealed to the point it's almost easier to chuck it and buy a new tube.

I just found some stuff called "ProCreate." I haven't used it but between the fact that the name made me giggle and that I got 70g for $12 as opposed to GW's 20g for $10, I figured I'd give it a shot. Has anyone used this stuff?

If you want alternatives try Milliput. It is sold at DIY rather than hobbi#yist prices.
You need the superfine putty, not the standard, it is almost as good as greenstuff. For the level of sculpt quality I achieve I cannot tell the difference.

Green Stuff is the commercial product Kneadatite rebadged and priced higher.
Milliput is the English name -- there must be US equivalents. As Ornlanth says the fine grade is good for sculpting. It handles differently to Green Stuff.

The local Workbench (for those Reaper fans out there...) doesn't carry mulliput for some reason. I asked the boys in plumbing at the big orange store and they actually didn't know what I was talking about. /sigh
I'm actually very happy with GS and even moreso with Brown Stuff. I generally mix the two for most jobs. I was curious about anyone's experiences with the alternatives from Tamiya. Thanks for the info Johira!
