Looking for advice on potential holes with a competitive, yet moderately fluffy list..

HQ:

Chaos Sorc, Jump Pack, MoS, Lash, Personal Icon (150)
Chaos Sorc, Jump Pack, MoS, Lash, Personal Icon (150)

Troops:

9x CSM (1 Champ w/PF, 1 Melta, IoCG), Rhino (230)
9x CSM (1 Champ w/PF, 1 Melta, IoCG), Rhino (230)
6x Noise Marines (5x Sound Blaster, 1x Blastmaster, 1x Personal Icon) (190)
6x Noise Marines (5x Sound Blaster, 1x Blastmaster, 1x Personal Icon) (190)
6x Summoned Lesser Deamons (78)
6x Summoned Lesser Deamons (78)

Heavy Support:

2x Obliterators (150)
2x Obliterators (150)
2x Obliterators (150)

Total: 1746

Oblits and Lesser Daemons (obviously) start in reserve.

The idea is that the CSMs work midfield, 9 in the unit so the HQs can ride with them. My fear here is that the Rhinos are kill points and easy targets early game. Icons supply entry points for lesser deamons and potential for safe zones fo Oblit deep strikes. HQs lash for crowd control as needed, bring in, push out... whatever is needed based on opposition.

HQs can jump back into Noise Marines or hide as pressure on CSMs increase.

Lesser Daemons can either sit on objectives or tie up/annoy/pester/harass enemy units that need such pestering.

Noise Marines hold rear objectives supporting CSMs as neccesary. Hopefully working from cover, to reduce impact of long range threats.

Oblits... well they are Oblits from a lacerated sky! Anti Mech, Anti Infantry... Anti Everything!

Concerns:

1) Kill points! Most of my units are small and along with the Rhinos, I am worried that I will be working at a disadvantage in KP. Also, given how much I plan on deep striking the Rhinos just look like big targets. But maybe this is ok, I consider them expendable.. or would if they didn't = KP.
2) Going with 6 (Slaanesh fluff) for the noise marines might just be too small. 12 or 18 shots is plenty, but will the endure? :(
3) Currently CSM squads hanve 1PF and 1 Melta, I like the PF for just in case, but maybe the melta should be replaced with Plasma or Flamer?
4) Excessive # of Icons? Currently this is mostly for situations where the field is clogged up with ORKS!! or the like and I just need some safe spots. Though I do need a few for the Lesser Daemons, maybe 6 icons is overkill?

Everything I am building and painting is themed black legion and I have plenty of plague marines, thousand sons, and even more noise marines ready to be fielded should I find them to be better options. Already concerned that double lash and 6x Oblits might border on non-friendly, but fortunately my friends like to be challenged... and I can always dowgrade to more friendly if needed.

What sort of glaring holes do you see? Thanks!

Rhinos are harder to take down than in the 4th ed.

Shooty squads will not be the main enemy target; the Rhino squads will.

Flamers are good for horde control. Drive up with the Rhinos, disembark, and burn...

Indeed, 2 or 3 icons should suffice.

Since you're black legion and have plague marines, I would drop the two CSM squads and the lesser demons and buy two plague marine squads for those rhinos. You'll still have four scoring units but a much more formidable set up.

Thanks for the input so far...

Taking in the above, I am going to try out swapping the troop selections with the following:

Troops:

9x Plague Marines (1 Champ w/PF, 1 Flamer, 1x Icon), Rhino (297)
9x Plague Marines (1 Champ w/PF, 1 Flamer, 1x Icon), Rhino (297)
6x Noise Marines (5x Sound Blaster, 1x Blastmaster, 1x Personal Icon) (190)
6x Noise Marines (5x Sound Blaster, 1x Blastmaster, 1x Personal Icon) (190)

This gives me 25 points to spare, so I could add another model to one of the troops or more options, but thats minor so not sweating it for now.

I am going to try this list out for sure, yet I will keep the other list in mind for the maybe some extra fun, since I agree with frgisnwntr, "lesser demons are fun." ...

Still open to more ideas, but very happy with input and I think since I already had the resilience of the PMs in my mind the extra advice pushed me into working with them.

This looks like a decent core.
How about the icons? Deep striking Obliterators?
In the new ed, its harder to take down tanks by long range weapons (lascannons).
Therefore, letting Obliterators deep strike is the better way to use them.

Yeah, I prefer to deep strike Obliterators. With luck I get within 12" range of the Multi-Meltas, and on rare occasion I have even scattered within 6" for all kinds of fun stuff against vehicles and infantry, using twin-linked melta, flamer, or plasma gun = death. When an icon was in range it decreased my stress levels significantly, so I am sold on spending the 5 to 10 points needed for the icon to reduce chances of heart attacks. As noted, all of my troop units have a Personal Icon on one of the models. I think I have overkill with the Icons and can afford to not have Personal Icons on my HQs (Sorcs), so I will be getting another 10pts to spend from that ... Making 36pts total left over, so I can think of adding another model or a few trinkets.

Furthermore, the one time I didn't deep strike Oblits, they sat as slow and purposeful priority targets for the enemy. They were out of position for maximum effectiveness and by the time I was able to get them into a decent offensive positions, the enemy had already reduced them to junk piles.

Since your sorcs have jump packs it seems a shame to take away their personal icons. That's a lot of flexibility for 10 points.

Lone IC will not last very long. Therefore, I'd prefer DPs all the day.
