It's continually baffling to me why FW are so totally resistant to entering the modern age. They could shove a camera pointed at the stage in these seminars for virtually no cost, and they don't even have to livestream them if they're actually worried nobody will want to go if the talks are available online, just record them and upload them a week afterwards. Christ if they livestreamed the event and charged a couple of quid to access the stream they'd probably make a fortune. They're leaving both money and potential marketing impact right there within easy reach and refuse to touch it, why, because they fear it will diminish some entirely illusory sense of exclusivity? Because they can't be bothered? It's utterly maddening.
You make it sound like all you have to do is lob a camera on a table and hit go. It's way more involved than that, all of which takes time (i.e. money) and expertise (i.e. money) to not make it look like a amateurish piece of gak.

I wish I could see them, too, but I get what at least we were told last year. I got to come over from the US and do the pilgrimage and it was quite packed in those rooms. They asked us not to film because we paid for the experience and it would be unfair to us to share actual video with others. I certainly can understand that. That, and sometimes wrong dates or titles are given and it makes it all the more reason to not have video to set the internet further afire. It was no secret to anyone that many attendees are taking pics and posting what they hear and see. Anyway, that's all I can say with confidence instead of speculation. It was already crammed to see models, art, painting and at times author signings. The insanely long queue is in the morning before the first session but to their credit FW& BL have handled that well and according to other attendees it's seeming to improve each time. Maybe if some semblance of Games Day comes back (and hell, now it just might!) they may do video, if it outgrows WHW open day events.
I'm sorry, but that excuse is nonsense in every way possible. For a start; if the rooms are genuinely so packed there's no room for a camera on the floor, a wall bracket for each would be pocket change for GW. Wrong dates or titles are going to spread regardless - I don't recall the lack of video preventing people from being pissed at FW for the ongoing failure to release the Bran Redmaw model. And if "unfairness" is really their concern, they could also charge money to watch an online stream(or pre-record and then not upload for a couple of weeks after the event), preserving if they must this attitude of snobbery that pervades a lot of the Heresy community(and before anyone starts, have a wander over to B&C and enjoy the people complaining that BaC has enabled so many dirty poors to get into the Heresy that it's making them enjoy it less; the attitude exists).
The people who go to these events would go regardless, as you say it's something of a "pilgrimage", and all the obstacles to streaming or recording are obviously and easily surmountable; there is no excuse not to do it, and even setting aside the arguments in favour of doing it based on marketing and the potential to make extra money from a stream, how about just doing it for their fans? Even among folk who can afford to collect FW armies, most don't have the money or opportunity to get to these events; I have an ASD and the prospect of actually physically sitting in a room with so many other folk is horrifying - would me or some Aussie bloke being able to watch a stream of the seminars really have made you feel hard done by? Would it really have diminished your enjoyment of the event so much to know it was less "exclusive" that you wouldn't have gone?

Oh please. Even if it wasn't patently ridiculous to suggest the cost of having a bloke come in for two days to set up some cameras properly is prohibitive to FW, charging for the stream would more than cover that cost.

If only they had a largely technologically knowledgeable geek fanbase that would gladly do it for free.... I enjoy watching the gencon FFG and Infinity seminars every year via fan uploaded video and I can't see why FW couldn't allow the same. Yes, they look amateurish and the occasional gamer blocks the view and the sound can be off but they're still very worthwhile. I know folks take stills at FW seminars but do they allow video as well? I don't see why they couldn't partner up with an existing youtube channel that already has some expertise (like Templars Crusade) that already plan on going to the event.

Have you tried contacting FW or BL customer service to suggest you idea? That's really all I can suggest to help. You might think that would b fruitless but in interaction I've had with staff in person and on forums they want you to send ideas in a constructed way because they themselves cannot affect that change without a demand first. BL didn't do a Weekender in 2015 and the fans go together and did our own event in Nottingham, where staff and authors actually came and had a great weekend of interaction with us. It started by BL editor Laurie G telling us how helpful it was that we did this and GW was surprised and saw how demand for more fan interaction can actually be productive and show GW, no really, we want this.
I'm not sure what an ASD stands for but I'll try and answer your question I think was posed for me specificslly. Personally, I would not have cared if they were filming, the sessions, the FW hobby pods, any of it. Can't speak for anyone else. And the pilgrimage is a common term used for gamers not in the UK (or I gues not in Nottingham) to come to WHWorld. That works great when there is an event like this.
So what have you got to lose? May as well run this idea up the flag pole (or company standard). I bet if many people make this request it will at least get consideration. I hope so. Video would be great if planned for. Best!

Whether or not Alpharius will have a helmet is a deciding factor for me. I doubt I'd be able to do a properly styled helmetswap that would match the quality of the rest of the model. I also really don't want for half his selling price to be for the massive chunk of Warlord Titan wreckage he's standing on.

I'm in a similar state of mind. Ideally, I'd love for him to be standing on a reasonably sized base, in a pose that doesn't scream "I just jumped out of a martial arts movie!!". Something similar to the quiet menace of Horus or Lorgar would be great. Not every primarch needs to be in the middle of an action scene, jumping on walls and pillars and such. And a helmeted/non-helmeted head option would be awesome.

This isn't going to be remotely what Alpharius looks like for the FW game. It is following HH series fluff which puts Alpharius as basically identical to standard legionaries.

I appreciate you responding so reasonably, on second reading the tone of my post can be read as more confrontational than I intended. ASD stands for Autism Spectrum Disorder. Honestly, I hadn't thought to email them about this, as frankly my experience is that companies don't give a gak about accommodating disabilities and disorders unless required by law, and if people like myself or folk who can't make it due to lack of money or distance to travel crossed their minds at all the last time it came up they evidently didn't consider that important enough to override their stated(or, if different, private) reason/s for not permitting videos.

Or they could just allow people to record them. More focus and interest on them is surely a good thing for sales, yes?

It is otiose... never mind.
Random posters on this board do more to promote it with all the pictures they take anyway.

I went to the HH weekender last year and there were a few disabled people, the GW people there were very accommodating of them and their carers. I'll knock GW for a lot of things but never customer service.

The Horus Heresy Weekender is almost here!
The Horus Heresy Weekender is almost here! The event kicks off at 10am on Saturday 6th February, and from then on the weekend will be absolutely jam packed with seminars and demonstrations, and you won’t be able to turn a corner without bumping into a writer, artist or designer from Forge World and Black Library.
I hear there will be some fantastic new products available for the first time there, some of them weeks ahead of being available through the Forge World web store. I caught sight of a couple just arrived and being made ready for the event, I’m told they’ll only be available in very limited quantities though, so make sure you get to the sales stand early!
This new Battle-automata stands even taller than the Castellax!
The upcoming Legiones Astartes: Age of Darkness Legions book will be there...
...take a look at all the Legions included. ...
Want to plan your weekend? Check out the schedule.
If you’re planning on entering your finest painted models into the Golden Demon, entries open at 10am on Saturday and close at 5.30pm. Judging will start when the event opens again on Sunday at 10am, so make sure you get your entries in on Saturday.
The categories are:
Single miniature
Squad
Vehicle
Duel
Unbound
Young Bloods
We will be presenting Bronze, Silver and Golden Demons to the winners of each category, and the overall winner will receive the lauded Slayer Sword. Click here to find out more, and then download your entry form. Make sure you fill out the entry form before you bring your models to the stand.
On Saturday the event closes at 6.00pm, but gaming will go on late so make sure you bring your armies! If you're going, we'll see you there. If not, make sure you're back soon for new from the Horus Heresy Weekender 2016.

'Murica! (again)

This one is supposed to have some changes to some units to make them more viable. No points changes, but especially the 4 legions from book 1, specifically mentioned already the EC: Kakophoni. --all this according to HH podcasts. This is def on the lists to buy should I ever rob a bank. Also, need big sacks with $ on them

They really should just go all the way and include the basic Legion list as well though. You still need to lug two books around.
