Has anyone tried the new fantasy naval game Uncharted Waters? Any online reviews you know of?

Fan freak'n tastic.
There may be a detailed review on the D6G VERY soon.
BTW, to help with your Googling: The name of the game is "Uncharted Seas" NOT "Uncharted Waters".

I came here to ask this question.
I always wanted to do Man-o-War, but that isnt going to happen, ever.
I really think I am going to order it.
For $100 (via thewarstore) I can get the rules and 2 starter fleets

I think it's the best wargame I've ever played. I strongly, strongly, recommend it.
Get the magic cards too -- they add another dimension to the game.

I'm really enjoying it.
I've played once as dwarves vs Dragonlords
Once as Orks vs Humans
And Once as Orks vs Dwarves.
All games have been extremely fun, and each fleet plays very differently. The cards REALLY make the game, and I strongly recommend using them.
Example: In Orks vs Dwarves the orcs had some tricky situation with wind. So I first tried to change the wind in my favor with a turn card that was ork shaman magic that allowed me to change the wind to any direction.
The dwarves strong counter magic prevented that from working. But later I was able to play the orc flatulence card which could change the wind only one point in either direction, but wasn't magic.
My massive ork battle ship was hit by a dwarven "flaming shot" that caused it to catch fire. The visual of a flaming orc warship bearing down on little dwarven ironclads was awesome.
I finally got into ramming position, but the dwarves played cool cards that made their ships stronger against rams... resilient dwarves, but then I countered with boarding actions and basically 'waaagh' type cards that gave the orcs the edge.
It was a narrow orc victory.
The game is a lot of maneuver, and a lot of threat assessment: who do I shoot first, how much to I risk splitting up.
It's also a good bit of hand management, keeping the right cards for the right moment.
Simple rules, fast play, but all the key elements of naval battle.

The game is a lot of fun.
The rules are easy to understand but allow for a lot of variation in playing, especially if you use the cards.
The models are pretty easy to build and paint.
There is a lot of potential for developing cool scenarios beyond what the book has and the new ships that have been released open the game up to other types of scenarios. For example, I'm looking forward to shelling land targets with the new Ork ship or trying to stop human troop transports from landing troops on an objective.

Question:
What advantages do Dwarves and Humans get to make up for the penalty of being
affected by the wind?

so the orcs and humans are the only ones affected by the wind??
the dwarves are steam powered
the dragonlords are magic driven
but what about plain old elfs?? they have sails, but are they magic driven as well?

well. i likes the look of them, very sleek.
so regardless of wind, that will be the fleet i play.
my only complaints are thier frigates. think people would mind if i bought the human frigate and put an elf sail on it?

My LGS is getting this game in, it looks pretty cheap to play so I'm keen to find out how it plays. I've been waiting too long for GW to re-publish Man-O-War on their website. This looks like it'll do nicely.

Several of my mates have got it and they are playing fairly regularly its a good simple straightforward system. I may get into it when I have money.

"But me no buts! Our comrades get hurt. Our friends die. Falkenburg is a knight who swore an oath to serve the church and to defend the weak. He'd be the first to tell you to stop puling and start planning. Because what we are doing-at risk to ourselves-is what we have sworn to do. The West relies on us. It is a risk we take with pride. It is an oath we honour. Even when some soft southern burgher mutters about us, we know the reason he sleeps soft and comfortable, why his wife is able to complain about the price of cabbages as her most serious problem and why his children dare to throw dung and yell "Knot" when we pass. It's because we are what we are. For all our faults we stand for law and light.
