The box art and instructions show them using command squad bitz like the medic pack, a storm bolter and a standard. Am I missing a sprue or is GW just not sure what goes in what these days?

Well it comes with a whack of standards, but no, I don't believe there's a command sprue.

Weren't there two boxes?
DA vet box, and DA command squad box?

I got both in the battleforce, along with multiple DA ravenwing sprues. I used the robed bodies to make up plastic GK for my DH.

Yes, there was a Dark Angels Veteran box and a Dark Angels Command Squad box. They shared the same instruction booklet.

That said, the picture on the front of the dark angels vets box shows regular smooth shoulder pads on the right shoulder, which aren't included in the box (I emailed GW about this and got a response telling me to buy them from battlewagon bitz )
