Here is the deal. I have a friend that hasn't played 40k since early 4th edition. He is just now getting back into the swing of things and is interested in a mega-battle the local shop is having. He once had a fairly sizeable Nurgle army, and has accepted that his deamons and Marines are not two separte armies. Certain aspects he even likes about it, such as The Epididimus will effect Plague marines in a mega-battle setting

Now, I was thinking of making my friend a Plague tower. Do you think that a Plague tower would count as a "Nurgle alligned model" for the purposes of Epididimus's special rules?

Its everything with the mark of nurgle that benefits from the tally rule and in the same token, everything that kills must have the mark of nurgle to gain kills for the tally.

by RAW the nurgle plague tower doesnt but you can always talk to your opponent to allow it to affect tally.

Comparing tournament records is another form of e-peen measuring.

Showing up with Epidemius to a megabattle and assuming that his rules work the same as they do in a 1500 to 2500 pt game is just a way to delay the game for an hour while everyone argues over the situation.

Do yourself a favor, and call the person organizing the megabattle. Don't assume he knows the rules, and explain them carefully, along with what's going to happen Eppy's tally gets to 20 and nurglings start assaulting carnifexes and killing them.

At my shops, this rule is called "Don't be a jerk and try to screw up a mega battle before it starts". Having a lot of nurgle models, Eppy, and a plauge tower would do just that - if you play that the tower adds to the tally, or benifits from it.

Plague towers are quite amazing for their points cost. We've made 2 so far. About 4 times as big as the weedy little thing GW shows in reloaded, that someone made from a seige tower and defiler parts. 6 structure point models shouldn't be the size of a Land raider.

On the back of a hog.

I thought epedimius's tally was for "every nurgle unit". Not for "every unit with the mark of nurgle". Wouldn't the tally then be helped by the plague tower or the nurgle-baneblade thing, etc?

Its Mark of Nurgle or Nurgle Deamon, not nurgle units. It is also from both sides, so in apoc every army.

Actually it says "any followers of Nurgle" It then gives two examples of what a follower of Nurgle is. Potentially even a Chaos Marine squad with an Icon of nurgle would count.

This is exactly why I don't take part in GW run Apoc games.

After having played/run over 3 dozen large apocalypse games, I've come to the conclusion that Apocalypse as descriped in the book is very cool. Big games, huge warmachines, friends getting together to mutally work out the rules for a big game, and getting to use all their models.

However, a megabattle where you have no clue who is going to show up, using apocalype rules, is another thing entirely. They usually blow chunks and are over before they start. Everyone is trying to cheeseball the other side. "My entire army assaults your army in the rear on turns 1 and 2". "My 5 monoliths land on your IG army turn 1, causing us to have a great big mess, and 2 hours sorting it out".

Or the classic "My stomper has a 4+ cover save from the Kustom Forcefield". (Oops, that was me. Houserule now says stompers in a Dreadmob cost 250 more points. Brutally broken.)

Half the people are pulling some craptastic secret move, the other half swear never to play the game again.

It's too much work setting them up, to not have a good time. The open ended nature of Apocalypse is based on friends getting together, and working to have a good time. Turn that into random people in a megabattle, and it deteriorates quickly.

....and lo!.....The Age of Sigmar came to an end when Saint Veetock and his hamster legions smote the false Sigmar and destroyed the bubbleverse and lead the true believers back to the Old World.
