Hey , I'm just wondering if Mad Dok would be a good HQ choice for my Ork army I'm building? I am trying for a more shooty army i am getting some loota's and to add but i just thought he might be good any feedback would be awesome.

He's much better for CC armies. Stick him with a 20-strong Boyz mob in a battlwagon or some Nobz in a Trukk and you've got a killer unit.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made.

because he has to run at any unit and kill them, i put him in 5-9 mega armoured nobs, as they can get cybork bodies for 5 or 10pts which make your mega nobs terminators of the ork kind and are fearless. great really.

in a big mob of sluggas is also great, as they are designed for assault and then get FNP on top.

Not so much shopoty lists though

Yeah i agree with everyone else in that he is a monster for a CC army. Lots of good uses for him, I just recently used him in a 25 man slugga group i had them on foot right in the middle of the board. they made a great screen for the first round or two and it really made the other player nervous and he dumped alot of fire power on them. No one wants a 25 man strong death company with two power klaws running wild. I think a Big Mek might be a better choice of a HQ for a shooty army

Feel No Pain and Cybork Bodies and Fearless make Meganobs much better. Haven't tried it but it seems like they would be pretty much immune to small arms and a bit more durable against their biggest weakness (AP2 and Powerfists)
And fearless is great for them as well.
5 of them plus mad doc is a lot of points, but it's also a lot of hard to kill power klaw attacks. Whatever transport you put them in is going to get shot to bits, so don't tool it up too much.

For a loota based army, a big mek or warboss is probably a better choice.

For a shooty army, I don't know that he's as good.

He works best when assigned to a small, elite unit since he makes them Fearless and gives FNP. I think it's best to assign him to a MANz mob (as others have said), but a Nobz mob could work too.

I've attached him to 30 slugga boyz with Nob/Klaw with no other guns (why slow them down with needless shooting).

Position Mad Doc so he can only see the unit or units you want them to run towards, wind them up and watch them clean house.

You'll probably end the game with just him and the Klaw Nob left, but that FnP save (especially combined with a KFF mek nearby) is awesome.

Yes the SA gun is a good idea, although a bit dangerous. stick him with some lootas in the back since it is a heavy. If not a Big Mek with a KFF is good too to keep your boys alive or mob'n up with some kans is good too, as well as the mek in a battle waggon with or with out the kannon or with some flash gits, burnas take your pick. Just some ideas, best bet is to play test them out and see wuts wut. Good luck

what do you guys think would be better since i just bought a lootas/burnas box should i make stick with making the lootas or are the burnas better for killing since there is no bs involved? I think lootas look BA personally but i dont know if its as good as burnas.

Speaking as a mech player, Lootas are the scarier option for sure. If you're trying to be shooty, go that way.

Mad Dok works great for cc armies, in fact unbelievably well.

I would forget the SAG, maybe for really large point lists, but frankly never had anything really good happen. Might be fun with loota's to back them up, but?

For a shooty army don't forget the bikes, six or nine twin linked Dakka guns sure can rip up some SM.

The Doc has some serious problems, namely that he's loonier than something extremely loony. If a Dread/Kan/Grinder/pretty much any walker walks closer to his unit than anything else, they get drawn in, bug zapper style, to a unit that will utterly waste 30/31 of their charge. Hope that Nob gets it done, or the Dread will snip the Doc, and the unit will get counter-charged.

All in all, fact is that Warhammer 40K has never been as balanced as it is now, and codex releases have never been as interesting as they are now (new units and vehicles and tons of new special rules/strategies each release -- not just the same old crap with a few changes in statlines and points costs).

I wouldn't put the doc on a boyz mob for that reason.
Meganobz get the most benefit from him I reckon.

Perhaps Captain Badrukk with that pretty nasty Ap2 str7 and assult3 gun would be another option?
