Hi,
I was hoping to get a read on quite how poor my first official IG list is, I've played a few games against housemates tinkering with various options and other bits & the army is very much for fun & hence includes a few bits which are more for fluff and fun than anything else... My housemates play Orks and SM respectively but winning is definitely a secondary consideration compared to enjoyment!

Army Doctrines: Ratlings, Cameoline, Light Infantry, Sharpshooters, Drop Troops
HQ
Junior officer with Honorifica imperials bolt pistol and power weapon
Four Guardsmen with flamers
Cameoline & Light Infantry

Fire support squad 1- 3x Heavy Bolters, Cameoline, Sharpshooters & Light infantry
Fire Support squad2- 3x Heavy Bolters, Cameoline, Sharpshooters & Light infantry

Troops:

Platoon: Command squad- Junior Officer, Power weapon, Plasma pistol
- 4 Flamers
- Cameoline & Light Infantry

Squad 1- Vet Sargeant
- Autocannon
- Plasma Gun
- Cameoline, Light Infantry

Squad 2- Vet Sargeant
- Autocannon
- Plasma Gun
- Cameoline & Light Infantry

Squad 3- Vet Sargeant
- Autocannon
- Plasma Gun
- Cameoline & Light Infantry

Troop Choice 2- Armoured Fist Squad- Vet Sarg
- Plasma Gun
- Heavy Bolter
-Chimera with Multilaser, Hull Heavy Flamer
- Cameoline

Elites- Ratlings (10)

- Hardened Veteran Squad- Sergeant
- Three Melta Guns
- Heavy Bolter
- Cameoline & Light Infantry

Heavy Support- Lehman Russ with Lascannon, sponson heavy Bolters and Pintle Heavy Stubber

- Lehman Russ Demolisher with hull Heavy Bolter, Sponson Plasma Cannons & Pintle Heavy Stubber

Fast Attack- Hellhound with Pintle Heavy stubber and Extra comms

Works out at about 1750-1800 points by my reckoning. General idea is plenty of versatility with either infiltrating or deepstriking, with some antitank & plenty of antihoard. The Rattlers I just love to bits & i'm aware they're not the best unit in the game & waste a doctrine point but i can't resist anyway!

Anyhoo, general direction & advice is welcomed, especially constructive criticism...thanks in advance guys!

oh wow... ok.... bloat, bloat, and more bloat. You can shave ALOT, and I do mean ALOT here.
Upgrades on the command squad is a waste, just give him a banner man and hide them just to give your other guardsmen a better morale. sharpshooters is a waste of points.... just save the points and get more guys, more shots is better then re rolling 1's. You need way more line squads and they should have lascannons, not auto cannons. Your tanks kill troops and your line guys use LC's to pop tanks. At this points total you should really have 3 Russies... or just any combination of 3 big killing machines. Dont waste points on Lascannons and heavy stubbers on your tanks.... use those points to get more line squads. Oh and cham is just a huge waste... with all the 4+ cover just waiting to be had in 5th eddition its just pointless, these are guardsmen, not marines if they need more then a 4+ cover for you to win then something has gone horribly awry. Sorry my message is so disjointed i just really had trouble finding somewhere to start.... I hope it was helpful, and I am sure if HBMC is around he will pop in and break things down for you.

thanks for the input! i take your point about sharpshooters, i did keep it down to as few units as i though appropriate but point taken nonetheless... Not convinced about dropping Cam...not a HUGE amount of points for me, and i enjoy having some form of save in the knowledge that if the dice gods are smiling on me it can be frustrating to play against! as for the increase in squad nbrs by dropping extras you're probably dead on...will think about simplifying down as i built/paint more models for use :-)

Do people activley try to channel me when they write responces in Guard threads? Not that I mind - nice ego boost really - but I'm just curious...
